Lethal Weapon 4
Release: July 10, 1998

With the passage of years, Roger Murtagh's daughter Rianne is now about to upgrade Murtagh to grandfather status, while Martin Riggs' relationship with Internal Affairs officer Lorna Cole means he'll become a proud papa. Elsewhere on the family front, Chinese triad members in Los Angeles smuggle families from the mainland, but this is only one item on the criminal agenda of triad leader Wah Sing Ku, who executes balletic martial arts maneuvers with blinding speed. The film opens with fire (when Riggs and Murtaugh encounter a flame-thrower in a bulletproof suit) and travels an exciting plot, leading up to a frightening, watery climax. In between, Riggs and Murtaugh tackle the troublesome triads with an assist from wickedly witty, sharp-edged newcomer Lee Butters and private detective Leo Getz. Starring Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Joe Pesci, Rene Russo, Chris Rock, Jet Li, Steve Kahan, and Kim Chan. Richard Donner directs from the screenplay by Channing Gibson; Story by Jonathan Lemkin and Alfred Gough & Miles Millar; Based on characters created by Shane Black. Produced by Joel Silver and Donner; Executive Produced by Steve Perry and Jim Van Wyck. Music by Michael Lamen, Eric Clapton and David Sanborn; featuring Van Halen with "Fire in the Hole", and Clapton performing "Pilgrim". A Silver Pictures production, with Doshudo Productions, for Warner Bros.
