KTTV-TV in Los Angeles presently broadcasts 49 hours of local newscasts each week. When KTTV was first sign-on in 1949, it had its news title: "KTTV Newsreel". Newscasts on KTTV began in 1951 with newscast title: "The George Putnam News." Newscasts were not on KTTV from 1964 until returning in the 1970s, then time until its new newscast title: "Metro News". In the early 1980, KTTV renamed its newscast until the new title: "LA 11 News." From 1983 to 1987, KTTV had its newscast title: "Channel 11 News", In 1987, the station renamed its newscast title: "Fox News." On June 18, 1993, the station debuted its newest weeekday morning news show: "Good Day L.A." In 1995, KTTV renamed its newscast title: "Fox 11 News". On April 17, 2006, KTTV launched a new look to its newscasts, including new theme music, graphics, and a new station logo. On July 14, 2008, KTTV launched a 10 a.m. weekday newscast (its first midday newscast since the mid 1980s), following "Good Day L.A.". On October 15, 2008, KTTV became one of the last television stations in the Los Angeles market to began local newscasts in high definition.
