Masters Of The Maze
Debut: January 01, 1994
Ended: January 01, 1996

Masters Of The Maze is a game show that's considered to be the video game of the future. The show consists of three teams of two. Player number one is the runner who will be going into the maze and player number two is the navigator who will help his partner in the maze, by controlling his power suit with a joystick. J.D Roth's Version First, the navigators will wait in the navigator waiting area, while the runners identify distorted pictures. First, a distorted picture will appear on a computer screen and you will get a chance to see the picture clear up before time runs out. If you identify the picture correctly, you'll get ten points and you'll get a chance to answer a multiple choice question about the picture for an extra five points. The first runner to get fifty points gets to choose if he wants to be the first or second runner to go into the maze. The last two runners remaining get to play in the speed round. In the speed round, pictures are still worth ten points, but there are no questions this time. The runner to get fifty points in the speed round will be the other runner to run through the maze. Next, team number one gets their turn to make their way through the maze. While the runner is in the maze, the navigator will see a map of the maze, so he can help the runner get to the end of the maze. The first part of the maze is the mirror maze. When you make it to end of the mirror maze, the mirror man will block your path and you will be asked a question. Next, you go across the bridge and you have to find two power sticks before you go into the honeycomb maze. In the honeycomb maze you have to put your visor down, and count on the navigator to guide you to the end of the honeycomb maze. After you get to the end of the honeycomb maze, you put your visor back up and go into the small room where you put in your first power stick to open the door to the chamber of knowledge, while the lady of the maze tells how to get out of there. Next, you go into the chamber of knowledge where there are six guardians of the gate, the guardian of history, the guardian of the animal kingdom, the guardian of innovation, the guardian of the unexpected, the guardian of nature, and the guardian of fantasy. Only three of those guardians will ask you one true and false question. One correct answer opens one gate. After all three gates are open, you have to put in your last power stick to stop the clock. Next, team number two has to follow the same objectives, but they have to make better timing. If they do make better timing, they win, but if they run out of time, then team number one wins. Last, the team that made it through the maze in the fastest time gets to play the prize level to win a 500-dollar shopping spree to The Sharper Image in Beverly Hills. In the prize level, there are five T.V. monitors that say prize/no prize, but you only have to hit prize on three of the monitors. The runner has to aim the laser light at the monitor and the navigator has to fire the laser at the monitor, by pressing the fire button on the joystick. If they hit prize on three of the five monitors, they win the shopping spree, but if they hit no prize on three of the five monitors, they don't win the shopping spree. On the other hand, the navigator will get a lot of cool prizes, but the runner gets a Masters Of The Maze Trophy and the right to go on a very special journey. Mario Lopez's Version When Mario Lopez took over as the new host, some changes were made to the show. Masters Of The Maze is now taking place on an island called Maze Island. Masters Of The Maze now has an introduction where a kid loads a Masters Of The Maze Disk onto his computer, and then the lady of the maze will give a tour of Maze Island and the maze as well. In this version, there would be one bonus picture that's worth fifteen points. In the maze run, the mirror maze stays in the first part of the maze. When you go across the bridge, there are no longer any power sticks before the second part of the maze. The honeycomb maze is now the ice cave, but before you do enter the ice cave, the lady of the maze will appear on a T.V. monitor and she'll show you one distorted picture to identify. If you can identify the distorted picture, you can take the short path through the ice cave, but if you fail to identify the distorted picture, then you must take the long path. The visor still has to come down during the second part of the maze. In this version, you only have to find one power stick instead of two because the small room was taken out. The one power stick you need is located somewhere in the middle of the ice cave. After you do find that one power stick, you put your visor back up and go into the chamber of knowledge. In this version, the chamber of knowledge has four guardians of the gate, the guardian of education, the guardian of imagination, the guardian of the natural world, and the guardian of science. Only one of those guardians will ask you one true and false question, so one correct answer will open all three gates. Next, you have to aim and fire your laser at the mirror man on a computer monitor. The same rules apply from the prize level in J.D. Roth's version, the runner has to aim the laser light at the screen and the navigator has to fire the laser at the screen, by pressing the fire button on the joystick. You have to hit the mirror man twice and then you run up lightning mountain and put in the power stick to stop the clock. In this version, the prize level was taken off the show and the 500-dollar shopping spree to The Sharper Image in Beverly Hills instantly went to the runner who made it through the maze in the fastest time.
