Based on Nickelodeon's animated preschool show 'Dora the Explorer' (2000-2019), this film begins with six-year-old Dora Marquez and her parents trying to find the legendary Incan city of Parapata. After ten years of searching the parents find the city and send Dora home to Los Angeles to live with her cousin Diego. One day during a field trip to a science museum, Dora and Diego are taken by mercenaries to Peru where they find that the mercenaries have captured Dora's parents and are hoping to use their expertise to get them into Parapata and steal all of the city's gold. Dora and Diego head off on a new adventure with Dora's talking monkey Boots and her imaginary friends Backpack and Map to save her parents and finally deal with Swiper the Fox who works for the mercenary group.
