The book series was later made into two animated series, both narrated by Frank Muir. This animated series was made in the UK in 1979 by Smallfilms. The series was put on hiatus in 1980, but 13 more episodes were made in the UK in 1990 by Central Independent Television, Link Licensing, and Bevanfield Films. The series got cancelled afterwards. In 1995, DiC Entertainment rebooted the series in the US.
