Boohbah
Debut: April 14, 2003
Ended: January 06, 2005

Boohbah was a British children's television show. It premiered in 2003 on ITV in the United Kingdom, and on 19 January 2004 in the United States on PBS and in Japan on TV Asahi until 2 July 2006. It was created by Anne Wood with scripts by Alan Dapre and Robin Stevens (of Pob fame). Anne Wood also created the children's show Teletubbies and In the Night Garden, and Boohbah is produced by the UK's Ragdoll Ltd. and the USA's PBS Kids. The similarity between this show and Teletubbies, both of which have a "science fiction" theme, is notable. The Boohbahs themselves are round dolls with expressive eyes who do not speak and communicate only through squeaks. The Boohbahs live in the Boohball, a glowing ball of energy, which flies around the world from country to country. In each episode, they emerge from the Boohball to dance. In the middle of each episode, the children who live in the Boohbah world give a present to the Storypeople, a live-action family who do not talk but appear in a narrated story. On the American version, a live-action segment at the end shows children doing very simple dances of their own.
