The television network of CBS always had movie specials that would air on a certian night of the week. Movies from all genres like comedy, drama, action, science fiction, fantasy, horror, musicals, vintage/classics, and family/childrens movies. Such movies that were high-ratings that did air on CBS including Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, Flight of the Navigator, Star Trek, The NeverEnding Story, The Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind, It's A Wonderful Life, Who Frammed Roger Rabbit, Back to the Future, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper, The Muppets Take Manhattan, Batman, Superman, Lean On Me, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and many other well-known movies known to movie lovers. In addition, CBS also aired movies that came straight to television including A Christmas Carol starring George C. Scott (Patton) which first aired back in 1984. CBS was, at many times, at the top of the television ratings when very good movies that would be aired once or twice a year were being aired.
