This Old House
Debut: January 01, 1979

Originally intended as a one-time series, This Old House is the very first home improvement series on television and has run for over 35 years! This Old House focuses on the building or remodeling of entire houses over the course of several weeks. A host, Bob Vila from 1979 to 1991, Steve Thomas from 1991 to 2003, or Kevin O'Conner since 2003, interacts with other workers while not doing much work himself with an emphasis on "sweat equity", where homeowners help do some of the work themselves. Workers include master carpenter Tom Silva, plumber Richard Trethewy, and landscaper Roger Cook. This Old House and its sister show Ask This Old House air on most PBS stations as the This Old House Hour. The series has also expended with books and a monthly magazine and has become one of America's most trusted and well-known home improvement brands.
