Remember this cooking show? It aired on PBS in the early-mid '90s. I'd always watch it with my mom. My mom still has her Frugal Gourmet cookbook. Remember when Elmo from Sesame Street would be on there?

My whole family watched it together. We used to get WBGH Boston PBS wheb I lived in Nova Scotia. Now we get PBS from Rochester New York, it's not nearly as good. My dad had several of the books and him and my mom made stuff from them from time to time. I don't think we have the books anymore.

I did, though I don't remember much about it. My mom says I would imitate his pose of resting his head on his hands. I think there are a couple of his cook books around here somewhere too.

Yeah, I remember it. Used to watch it when I was a toddler, back when I'd watch PBS and Sesame Street a lot.

Then the dude went and molestered some boys, like the camp counselor on Mr. Belvedere.

Oh yeah, I also remember the show Fight Back, and they'd always throw Tide detergent, Jif peanut butter and Cap'n Crunch down a hill.

My mom use to watch it too. I remember the Elmo episode. I really liked his theme song. When ever I would hear that song even when the show wasn't on I would tell my mom that was the frugal gourmet song.

Can't remember that one but I still have "The Urban Peasant" stuck in my mind, my aunt's fav show. He was funny, this guy couldn't finish a thing without alcohol, even rice had at least half bottle. I also remember people mailing the show just to ask him why he was so coarse-mannered and dirty in the kitchen and he would reply "Because I feel it, cooking is all about having a good time"

Don't you ladies feel like having some bread for dinner?

Yup, unfourtunately that is what he is remembered for by a lot of people. I think he molested some "helpers". Poor kids. I can hear him now..."Come over here Timmy, I will show you how to baste meat" ewwww

I watched this too. I don't know why but I've always liked cooking shows since I was little. My tv stays on the food network.

Yes sir, I'm proud to say that along with all those wonderful cooking greats such as Justin Wilson, Julia Child, and Graham Kerr, The Frugal Gourmet was second to none for its time, especially when Elmo happened by.

Now, about that sexuality case against Jeff - THAT I never saw coming then!

Today, whenever I hear the "Bourree" from Handel's Water Music, I can still think of ol' Jeffy - and all the magic he brought into the kitchen with him.

If you're listening out there, Jeff: "I bid you peace."
"Make new friends, but keep the old... one is silver, and the other gold.
A circle's round, it has no end... that's how long I want to be your friend.
I've got a hand, and you've got another... put 'em both together and we've got each other.
