Napoleon Dynamite, though not due to any sort of media hype. It's just the film that everyone and their brother claims is the funniest movie ever. It really isn't all that fantastic.

I can think of a couple of the most overrated movies!

    Scarface
The Fast and the Furious (And its sequels)
    The Godfather
    XXX

I think ET is a really overrated movie. I just can't see what's so freakin' great about it.

It was a decent movie but depressing as hell. And I hated the ending.

I agree about the Harry Potter movies/books. Way over-hyped.

It seems to me that a lot of horror movies are kinda overrated. I watched Nightmare on Elm Street recently since I was never allowed to watch it when I was little. I was pretty disappointed. Some of the effects were cheesy and it just...didn't really scare me at all. Maybe if I'd seen it when I was six years old, I would have been terrified...

I tried to watch Halloween once and ended up almost falling asleep, so I turned it off.

I watched Amityville Horror (the 70s version) recently. Two words: Not. Scary.

Maybe horror just isn't my thing...

Almost everything that comes out these days.

E.T. was great because it was the first of its kind, etc.

Secret Window.. I dont remember there being hype for this movie, but I thought it was good as far as Stephen King movies tend to go.

Fast and Furious is an awful, dumb, and boring movie. Im sorry, it just is. And so is tripple X. I don't get the draw really.

"The Ring". I HATE that movie! All I see throughout the entire film is a creepy little girl, but it never seems to go anywhere except at the end, which I personally feel was an entirely predicatable ending. Too pretentious for a horror flick!

Yup, We're living in the era of hype. Nothing is more textbook example of this than the Matrix sequels.

    - Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

To each his own. I loved it! Of course it's since been met with wannabes like "Hero", but Ang Lee did it first and most believably. It's such an artistic movie.

I thought Hero was superior to Crouching Tiger. I really didn't like the plot for Crouching Tiger, and I thought the color schemes in Hero were very interesting.

    My List:
    Star Wars
    Napoleon Dynamite
    Rocky Horror
    The Matrix

Can't seem to think of movies tonight. But notice the amount of cult flicks!

I am going to get burned for this but Donnie Darko. It didn't get a lot of media hype but there is a big cult following. Its just a weird ass freakin movie. I'm not into those strange movies but to each his own.

The funny thing about the Ring when I saw it (on tv) was that everybody said it was so scary and it was more funny to me.
