We didn't have ice cream trucks when I was a kid...there was only the dickie dee (teenager on a bicycle with a freezer on the front full of ice cream). We would hear him ringing his bell and run to go find some money. I liked the chocolate baseball glove that had a gumball for a baseball in the middle. I also liked the classic red blue and white popsicle but I can't remember what it was called. My cousin was a dickie dee for a summer - it looked like a tough job.

i would always go for the Fudge bomb since it was really big and cheap, or i would go for the redwhite and blue firecracker that was the same size as the fudge bomb

I was about 13 before I saw an actual ice cream man, I had thought they were a thing of bygone days up until that point. There's one that goes around this neighborhood in the summer. I haven't seen him, but I've heard the distinctive music going by.
My 2 favs from the ice cream truck were rocket pops (those red (cherry)/white (lemon)/blue (raspberry) ones) and the classic orange push-ups.

Some states have lousy ice cream trucks. Growing up in NYC we had Mr. Softy ice cream trucks. These trucks had soft serve ice cream, regular ice cream and Italian ice's. You could get a banana split, ice cream float, any kind of cone, no problem. My first experience with an ice cream truck out of state was disappointing. They did have anything, just a few frozen bars in the freezer and some chips.

I grew up in a very small town in Maine, in a rural area so we didn't have an ice cream man, other than the people that would have the schwanns man (spelling?) deliver stuff.

The first time I actually saw an ice cream truck in person was when I was 26, living at Travis Airforce Base. It seemed to come around speradicly. We also had one that had just started coming to our naval base housing area in Guam the summer before we left. Now we're in Washington State at Bangor Base and it must be that time of year because one has been showing up Sat and Sunday the past few weeks. Anyway, none of these trucks have actual soft serve ice cream or anything like that, it's more popsickles and drumstick cones and ice cream sandwhiches.

I've never seen an ice cream man before. we didnt have them in my city. like ice cream trucks. We had what were called Dickie Dees. The guys who drove ice cream bikes and when they peddled, there was always a bell ringing. One Summer, they gave away Power Ranger movie POGs with a purchase of any ice cream treat.

I think there were some of those ice cream bikes in my old neighborhood. They mostly sold paletas (popsicles). But we had the ice cream truck too.

I have never in my life seen an ice cream bicycle, except in movies & shows from the 1950s or in archie comics (and even then they're extremely rare).
