I can't believe no one mentioned the remake of 'Take my Breath Away'. Jesus, that was awful. Oh, and Gn'R's remake of Knockin' on Heaven's Door was badass, as was their version of Paul McCartney's Live and Let Die.

"Boys of Summer" by The Ataris. The band does not deserve this name because that cover is so awful. "Bringing on the Heartbreak" by white rapper Mariah Carey is pretty awful too.

i hate the ataris for their unworthy use of the name and because this cover sucks, now if they where called the channel f's , that would be diferent.

maria careys shrieks hurt my ears , she should stick to her own songs and not disrespec def lepard.

"Every Breath You Take" could be considered a love song, but it's really a song about stalking someone.

But yeah, I definitely agree about P.Diddly or whatever the flip his name is now. What a dork! If you're going to make a tribute about your supposed "best friend", at least be decent enough not to sample someone else's song! Not to mention capitalizing on his death. Real classy.

Thank you, kimsy and hobby...It's nice to see that I'm not the only one who got annoyed by his sampling. I don't see why everybody fawned all over him back in the late 90s/early 00s. Some people can do sampling well (The Sugarhill Gang and Afrika Bambataa And The Soulsonic Force come immediately to mind)...Sean Combs definitely doesn't belong in that category.

I used to be into the Ataris but I've been more than a little turned off by them since Boys of Summer. They put out four very decent emo-tinged punk-pop albums, none of which attained much commercial success, and then they make it big on a crappy cover song. It bothers me when bands do this (this is a worse case of selling out than even Metallica could be accused of) and even WORSE, in the video they disrespect Don Henley, the guy who made the song famous in the first place.

For worst bands ever, I think it's a four-way tie between NKOTB, Color Me Badd, the Mini Pops, and whatever that boy band was called where the three guys all looked like clones with frosted tips. I guess I'll look it up if nobody knows who I'm talking about.

I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE how Limp Bizkit covered "Behind Blue Eyes" by The Who!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and i fucking HATE HATE HATE HATE Kid Rock's cover of Bad Company's "Feel Like Makin Love"

also, Cradle of Filth's shitty cover of "Hallowed be Thy Name" by Iron Maiden

Creed's shitty attempt to ruin "Roadhouse Blues" by The Doors.. FUCK YOU Scott Stapp, you are not the new Jim Morrison, go eat shit!

and yes, like someone mentioned, P Douchebag ruining "Kashmir", AGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Dave Matthews covering "All Along the Watchtower"

for some reason, I just dont like Pearl Jam's cover of "Hide Your Love Away" by The Beatles... nothing against PJ, but this just didnt click on me...

i havent actually heard this, but I heard that Simple Plan covered "American Jesus" by Bad Religion.... :

and now to bring a little positivity to this thread, here are some GOOD covers I've heard...

Nonpoint's cover of "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins

Shinedown's cover of Skynyrd's "Simple Man" (Deftones also covered this pretty good too)

Iced Earth did a cover album called "Tribute to the Gods" which has some good covers on it, certainly better than a certain other piece of shit called "Garage Inc"... good covers of:
"Creatures of the Night" by KISS
"Burnin for You" by Blue Oyster Cult
"Hallowed Be Thy Name" by Iron Maiden (Take THAT Cradle of Shit! )
    "Dead Babies" by Alice Cooper
"Long Way to the Top(If You Wanna Rock & Roll)" by AC/DC
(also heard em do a good cover of Iron Maiden's "Transylvania" for their "Horror Show" album)

Pantera's cover of "Cat Scratch Fever" by Ted Nugent

Nevermore's cover of "The Sound of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel

Stone Temple Pilots's cover of "Revolution" by The Beatles

Social Distortion's cover of "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash

even though I've grown to hate Green Day now, I still love their old cover of "My Generation"

I once heard a song from this punk cover band called Me First & The Gimmie Gimmies, they did a great cover of "Only the Good Die Young"

Stevie Ray Vaughan's cover of "Voodoo Child"

    Fear Factory's cover of "Cars"

Demons & Wizards's cover of Cream's "White Room"

Zakk Wylde's cover of Neil Young's "Heart of Gold"

i know i'll get some shit for this, but.. I once heard a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Hey Hey What Can I Do" by Hootie & The Blowfish, and.. thought it was pretty damn good

Every time I see a one of those horrific "Kidz Bop" comercials, I wanna throw up! And now there's like 9 or 10 of them. I can't help but think, "Who keeps buying these!?"

I just bought the Thundercats Season two DVD and let me tell you (Edymnion and Quintesson will back me up)

The Rembrandts (who did the Friends theme song) re-mix of the song is simply horrific!

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

THIS takes my top vote, The American Rejects and the Fallout Boys destroying the classic "Let The Good TImes Roll" by The Cars, it sounds like it's being played by a washing machine and sung by a sheep with a nail up his arse.

Any of Sean Combs' bastardizations of 70s and 80s pop hits. You need to have talent to make covering/sampling work and he just didn't have it....

All Sean Combs did was buy a pop hit song, remix it with heavier bass and hip hop sounds, and put a couple of his naggings, then make money off it. Repeat.
Its cheap, and he got the cash cows first.
Thats it man , Game Over man ,

The worst cover? Godhead - Eleanor Rigby

I get pretty furious when anyone decides to compete with The Beatles - the greatest song writers in history.. they always fail. miserably.
