Thread: Worst cover songs/bands of all-time (The day the music died)

Well, there are just too many of them for me to list! But if you ever get a chance avoid the....

Celine Dion remake of ACDC "You Shook me all night long!" AT ALL COSTS!

I saw it on TV, flipping through the channels once and I'm pretty sure it would cause instant death for anyone who ever listened to it in person.

I'm a purist and I think 99.9% of re-mixes and covers suck ass, but that's just me. What are the ones that REALLY get on your nerves.

I'm a purist as well, but since I haven't turned on the radio in about 15 years, I rarely find myself listening to something awful. I do remember a cover for Police's "Every Breath You Take", it was the tune playing in a taxi I once took. I wouldn't know who the responsible is (google it, I ain't bothering) but it was no short of disgusting and keep in mind I'm not really a good fan of that song.

As for Celine Dion, what a shame , this song kicked (and still kicks) more arse than Jack Burton and the Coreys all together.

Mind if I mention a good cover?, Yngwie Malmsteen cover for "Somewhere Over The Rainbow"

When All Saints brutally mauled "Under The Bridge", I promptly ran out into my garage and started sharpening my axe.....

Any of Sean Combs' bastardizations of 70s and 80s pop hits. You need to have talent to make covering/sampling work and he just didn't have it...Worse still, I saw white people who grew up with the original music dancing to the samplejackings like they were black. Nothing irritates me more than a wigger...Maybe that's why I hate myself so much.

Axl may not have the best voice, but somehow he makes it work. Its one of those mysteries of the universe.

Sean "P. Dorky" Combs ruined Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir", then shoved a phat wad of cash in front of Jimmy Page to play along. As a vocalist, Combs has 0 talent. So what if he's also a fashionista? He's a freakin' poseur! He took "Every Breath You Take" and turned it into a tribute to Biggie Smalls, then coaxed Sting to appear at the VMAs.

Bottom line: "Kashmir" was a classic 70's anthem. "Every Breath" is a great 80's love song. Both should've been left well enough alone.

Other bad covers: Guns 'N' Roses butchering Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door", among others. Jackson Browne doing Maurice Williams' "Stay". And do we need to mention William Shatner?

Yeah Sting and Shatner have jumped every dolphin in the damn pool, they've been airborne for the last 15 years!

"Every Breath You Take" could be considered a love song, but it's really a song about stalking someone.

But yeah, I definitely agree about P.Diddly or whatever the flip his name is now. What a dork! If you're going to make a tribute about your supposed "best friend", at least be decent enough not to sample someone else's song! Not to mention capitalizing on his death. Real classy.
