I would take that back. (Read it and weep) They have actually gotten worse with it. I heard that Heathcliff used the original logo, but Inspector Gadget will use a new (And incredibly awful) "Kid in bed" that has a 2-D figure out the window instead of a blank starfield. I have heard that DIC has gotten really bad with old logos and loves to plaster them. This probably means that all new DVD releases will carry this new logo. At least the Ninja Turtles DVDs have the MWS and Group W logos on the shows.

Aww...that sucks. I guess they're keeping the old logo with Heathcliff because we're so used to seeing and hearing the green vortex music after the end of the theme song. As for the Ninja Turtles, didn't Group W use to have their own music? They usually have the end of the Turtles theme song along with the logo, but in the beginning I'm sure they had their own logo and music.

Screen Gems is EXTREMELY soothing. The Paramount "Closet Killer" is extremely scary! They kept that on syndicated "Brady Bunch" eps back in the early 1990s. Terrified me then--not quite as much now, but still bad enough.

Ubu creeped me out for a long time (still does). I can't see the doggie's eyes. Sit Ubu sit! No Ubu, don't run away with that frisbee! No stop! You're scaring the children!!

I also remember the Inspecor Gadget Logo, I hope they include it on the DVD in April.

I hope so, too, but unfortunately logo-plastering is popular. I want my classic closing logos back!!

The company that has made DIC cartoons possible in seasons on DVD (Shout! Factory) has gotten better with putting old logos on shows. I want to see the LBS "Pan-out" logo on there too.

Having the LBS pan-out and Inspector Gadget custom logos would be worth the price of purchase. But, since DiC likes to plaster, don't expect it. I'm not keeping my fingers crossed. The He-Man DVDs all have the original Filmations logo (which is great--I like this logo), though Filmations is now defunct (As of 1993).

You forgot about Paramount TV's split rectangle with Dominic Frontiere's "Closet Killer" music!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bp4k7Mt_exk

And DFS Program Exchange's logo from 1979!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMWPzp2hLxY

And Revue's "TV camera" logo from the early 50's!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTULdUikYSw

And BBC's "Bat Wings" from 1953!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJDUvlif-fw

And the black and white "Film-o-Vision" version of Viacom's "V of doom"!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0V-XF2mM8Y

And the 1969 logo from NET (The predecessor of PBS)!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bN7PfE7Y3Dg

And Weiss Global Enterprises' logo from the 70's or 80's!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axWvFO8IlZg

And Screen Gems' "Dancing Sticks" from 1963! The fact that the sticks do nothing but dance makes this one scary!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CyYkElagqs

Caution: Make sure you go to the bathroom before seeing these! And keep the volume on your computer down, because some of these logos are loud!

mr3urious--those were great, but I stopped watching the BBC "Bat Wings" logo, it was long and boring. It was ugly though. Dancing sticks are scary!!!!!!!!

Shout! Factory used to be good at keeping the logos (Heathcliff used the "Green Vortex" logo in the first season DVD last year), but since DIC bought the rights to their old properties (An ill-conceived decision if I ever heard of one), the old logos will now be officially extinct.

I loved that LBS 1976 logo. It was always at the end of Inspector Gadget- along with the "DIC" logo featuring him rollerskating out of control and his "Gadget Hammer" pounding the dot in the "I" of DIC.

What about...I think it was Coloumbia Pictures that had this blazing sun, that I for some reason associated with Orange Juice...then there was...I swear it was "Coca Cola" pictures? It was at the end of Punky.

Remember the little end logo at the end of Sesame Street...there was all this stuff, and there was this jazzy tune; "bamp bamp baa baaaa." THAT would be the "scariest" logo IMHO.

The LBS logo is ok, at least, the 1976 one was ok. The 1984 one was a little scary. Too much synth for comfort. The "Inspector Gadget" custom logo was cool--its a shame I can't find a video of it anywhere (unless someone else can!!!!). The Columbia Pictures sun--if I can recall correctly, Columbia was owned at some point by Coca-Cola. And that Seasame Street logo resurfaced for me five years ago on an old video while I was working at a day care center--it was a little creepy.

Does anyone know where I can find a video of the "DiC" vortex??? I can't recall the music, or the updated "Kid in Bed" with the "Incredible World of DiC" logo????? That would be cool.

On Yahoo Groups, there are the 1976 and 1984 LBS logos. I am trying to find the vortex logo at this time. I am also trying to look for the custom logo and the Colex logo that was owned by LBS and Columbia. The other logo I am looking for is the "Sliding LBS" I remember seeing on a more recent print of Heathcliff that had the Vortex logo and went to the logo where rows of balls come from one side and LBS slides in on the other.

You're talking about the backers credits with the Bells N' Horns Music. I recall at least 3 versions of that.........

The earliest I might have seen ONCE as a baby, that one was from a 70's type sesame street episode. It had a black background that was generated by some kind of computer running in text mode, all black and white, I think they changed it to blue and white a little later on, kind of like the Weather Channel around the same time.

By around 1988 or so I think they changed it back to black and made it shorter. I recall the backers credits being longer, unless my blue screen memory might have had The Weather Channel actually USING the same music.

I did a demented metal cover of it on my soundclick page (http://www.soundclick.com/mjmadmike), and there's a version availible at one of the wav file websites as sesend80.wav.

Oh, and yes, I remember being terrified of it as a kid, because if I heard it, I'd have nightmares about that tune playing while all sorts of odd creatures were out to harm me, from brown goo to giant vaccum cleaners.

I listened to the wav! Holy dang...more like monsters in brown lesiure suits coming after you. Why oh why did I listen to that before going to bed?!

I LOVE YAHOO GROUPS!!!! They now carry the Inspector Gadget Custom Logo and "Green Vortex". For the "Kid in bed" fans there is also the extremely rare "Choir" variation seen on The Real Ghostbusters. The websites have almost every single logo you can think of.

It is called the Closing Logo Group. You will have to make a comment to the moderator of the site befor you can do anything. It is worth it in the end and you don't have to wait too long depending on the group.

The Turner logo always frightened me. You would always see it at the beginning of old MGM movies throughout the 80s and 90s. Only recently have they gotten rid of that logo...The new one zooms through a busy cityscape and ends with the TCM logo.

As for the MGM logo, my feet are always off the ground when it comes. I can feel Leo's roars coursing through to my feet and that's unnevering...and just me, of course.

I remember a couple times talking to someone and hear that annoying embassy television logo and being frightened by it like "ahh, what the hell was that?" I mean you're watching tv, the credit rolls and then always at the end you have to know who created the show. Why? It's stupid! I mean nobody really cares unless they work for the company. The logos should all be silenced. I mean what do they sell? j/k
