My favorite Nick was probably from around 1989 to 1994-ish. Before afternoon kindergarten, I'd watch Nick Jr, stuff like The Elephant Show, Today's Special, David the Gnome. When I got older, I'd come home from school everyday and zombie out to shows like Hey Dude, What Would You Do?, Guts, Doug, Rocko's Modern Life, and lots more. Most of the time I watched a lot of Nick at Nite too.

Now I understand that I may have misplaced a few shows, I don't know exactly what the term "old" means. Weither it's 90s or early 2000. Anyway I say some good stuff came from the old and the new.

The old Nickelodeon was so much better, probably because we were young at the time. But some of the shows that are on the new Nick are just retarded.

Personally I would go with this for Old Nick :

    Old Nick:

In bold are the big 5 main cartoons that were the most popular when I used to watch Old Nick:
    Rocko's Modern Life
    Rugrats
    Aaah!! Real Monsters
    Doug
    Ren & Stimpy

    What Would You Do
    Wild & Crazy Kids
    All That
    Gumby
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
    Ghost Writer
    Rocky and Bullwinkle
    and others.

And the shows that you went with for New Nick. Old Nick was obviously better.

I remember Nickelodeon before the 1990s. I used to watch it every morning and on Saturday afternoons when I got finished watching Saturday morning cartoons (well if it rained that is). I haven't watched the network in a good while.

    Shows I remember

    Pinwheel
You Can't Do that on Television
    Today's Special
    Mapletown
    Nick Rocks!
    Turkey TV
    Third Eye
    Picture Pages
    Danger Mouse
    Adventures of Little Koala
    Mysterious Cities of Gold
    The Noozles

    and more.

I would like to thank Nickelodeon for introducing me to shows from all across the world and with shows like the Noozles and Adventures of Little Koala introduced me to anime.

I saw a tampax commercial on Nick the other day during spongebob, and a part of me died. :'(

OK.... my brain just exploded in my head. Makes me think of when they showed a Honda "Respect the Van" ad during Chip n' Dale on Toon Disney.

Also, the reasons Nickelodeon "sucks" now:

    -It's gotten too "corporate"

    -Their on-air look lacks creativity

    -Ned's Declassified is OK, though.

Not to mention Noggin/The N was better in 2002. Now they suck too. It was even better before Noggin's brand was confined to preschool shows. ;_;.

Me, i personally prefer old Nick. Rugrats was the bomb! (and not that all grown up crud)

but i do like Danny Phantom, it sorta has that old nick quality.
SPONGEBOB IS AN ANNOYING PIECE OF CRAP! AND IT IS ROTTING THE MINDS OF CHILDREN!!!

I was 11 when Nickelodeon ditched the pinball logo, I felt like a part of me had died, as well. I still hate the current logo.

I watched Nickelodeon until around 1987. But IMO, Nick peaked in 1984.

I also divide old and new nick like this: The pinball logo is "old nick", everything after the Viacom purchase is new nick.

Wow, you go WAAAAAY back, especially since you consider circa-1985 as the "new" Nick. This is just me, but I actually like the 1985-current logo. The pinball one is just too dated. I have 4 videos of pinball era recordings, mostly YCDTOTV and one of Pinwheel.

Did you tape anything from the "pinball" days?

lots of great points have been made here. my dad said that my cartoons sucked and his were great. i like them both. i think that cartoons today suck and my kid likes them both. it is a cyle that age brings upon us.

i liked nick until about 1995. i really think that the nicktoons were the begining of the end like someone else said. don't get me wrong i liked doug, ren and stimpy and rocko. i did not care for the ones left unmentioned. those cartoons opened the door for things that suck to slip in. when nick started to go down it did not take long.

i miss the bumpers and i love to watch clips of them. if they put that stuff on a dvd i'd watch them. i also like the old mtv bumpers they kinda creeped me out but hey i was like 7.

They made a wrong move by cancelling the old school shows and airing this garbage. Let's have a moment of silence for our fallen classics...

The first season of Are You Afraid of the Dark
    Doug
The Adventures of Pete and Pete
    Hey Dude
    Salute Your Shorts
    What Would You Do
    Wild and Crazy Kids
    Double Dare
    NICK ARCADE (Why???)
    Kenan & Kel
All That before the new cast started (Amanda, etc.) and the old cast left (Girl who played Mandy in Mandy & Randy etc.)
    Legends of the Hidden Temple
    Ren & Stimpy
    Rocko's Modern Life
    Aahhh!! Real Monsters
The Old Nick Jr. (Does Face Still Exist?)
    Papa Beaver's Story Time
    Alegra's Window
    Gullah Gullah Island
That short with the yellow boy puppet with the black shirt and the blue girl puppet
    The Muppet Show
    Eureeka's Castle
    Muppet Babies
    Rupert
    The OLD Rugrats (Before Dil)
The Secret World of Alex Mack
    Space Cases
    Looney Tunes
My Brother and Me (How did that get cancelled so fast?)
    Gumby
    The Adventures of Tin Tin
    Nickelodeon Weinerville (Especially Batfink)

    Jack the Knome
The Busy World of Richard Scarry
Nick didn't make Shinin' Time Station, but they could've kept it there when they started airin' it
    Snick
Nick In The Afternoon With Stick Stickly
    Even the old Nickelodeon ads

Nick should make a REAL spinoff channel for the sitcoms. Agree? Disagree?
