Thread: Duke of hazard pulled off from Tv land

    		 has anyone gone too far? I learned that tv land pulled dukes of hazard off the air because of the confederate flag on the general lee car

    		 The Confederate Flag does not, I repeat, does NOT represent slavery and racism! It just represents the southern states that fought during the Civil War. That's it! Nothing more!

    I can't say I'm surprised about Dukes of Hazzard being pulled off of TV Land. It's gotten to where they're not fully committed to the classics anymore. Thank goodness for MeTV, though.

    		 I don't think the show necessarily should be taken off the air. But I understand wanting to remove the symbol as something that would otherwise be normalized. Think about if Birth of a Nation was shown on regular TV all the time.

    But the flag not representing slavery...well, the Civil War was over slavery. Now matter how people want to couch it in terms like "states' rights" the right to own slaves is what made a bunch of gray uniforms get made and worn. So if the flag represents the southern states during the Civil War I don't see how you can really separate it from that.

    		 I can understand the need to remove controversial symbols from government property. Even if that symbol is NOT the symbol that actually represented the south during the Civil War.

    But pulling TV shows is just stupid. Sorry. It's stupid. This country is full of stupid people, offended by the smallest of things. Time and effort, wasted on paltry issues, when so many larger issues need attention.

    Perhaps we should also ban the American Flag as well. Because the Emancipation Proclamation did NOT end slavery. Just in the south. States owning slaves in the North were exempt! EXEMPT! Yeah, better pull down your flags folks.

    		 TV Land along with Nick @ Nite have been unwatchable for years. Since when is Reba nostalgic? I'm so grateful for MeTV's presence. DVD sets help fill the void, too.

    I think you hit the nail on the head. Removing the show is so ridiculous. I recently saw a picture of lynyrd Skynyrd with the confederate flag behind him, I guess Free Bired will be pulled next...
