I'm complaining about lack of equality. BHM is supposedly about trying to have equality, but it's more about trying to have dominance. If you're truly about equality, then you must treat everyone equally. No special treatment for ANYone.

Even if you throw true equality to the wind and leave out white/european history month, what about the rest?
Hell, if anyone deserves a month to themselves, it should be red history month. Blacks complain about slavery, but the natives had their very home stolen from them.
Ancestrally speaking, whites can go back to europe, blacks can go back to africa, yellows can go back to asia, but where can reds go "back" to?? Natives made as many contributions to modern life as blacks or any other race, so why aren't they given their own month?

The problem with BHM is that NO other race has the equivalent. I knew people would jump on the "well whites don't deserve it" bandwagon, but you're focusing on a minor element of the issue & ignoring the significant part. Ignoring the entire forest because you're too busy staring at just one tree. It's not about blacks vs whites, it's about blacks vs EVERYone.

I mean whether you wanna call it PC or whatever...complaining about not having a European history month is silly! Especially considering that when we learn history in school, it is almost entirely focused on Europe from Romans, Greeks, middle ages, England France, Wars until we hit American history which touches on the slave trade and then civil rights movements. I don't know what's in the books now seeing as I was in school in the 80's and 90's but what I know about Asia, Africa, and South America basically came from watching the History Channel! lol

And I'm quite sure that less than 50yrs ago ..how much of other culture, besides Europe, was taught in schools? What about in the south during Jim Crow times? So please, after 2-300 yrs of this country and finally acknowledging black history, hispanic heritage, asian or whatever... I don't think anyone should be complaining about not having European history month!

Personally I find BHM to be an exercise in social PC.

I think reverse racism is the wrong term. However, there is a spanish heritage month and asian heritage month. There is no european heritage/history month. There are so many different culures in europe which one would we celebrate? BHM could also be called African american history month.

There is also Juneteenth which commemorates the abolishment of slavery in 1865 and MLK day which celebrates Dr. Kings birthday. Special interest groups lobby for these holiday's and politicians are almost forced to oblige them. I remember in 2008 John McCain got criticized because he voted against making MLK day as holiday on the 3rd Monday of January. He later stated he should have voted in favor of it. Most blacks I have met over the years could care less about these holiday's. Just like I could care less about Columbus Day.

As for Menace II Society, the movie portrayed fairly well what life was like for many young blacks in the inner city in the 90s. Things are a little different now.

BHM is reverse racism. It's still just 1 race getting singled out & held up above all others. If there's a black history month, there must also be a white one, and a yellow one, and a red one, and any other colors that exist in the racial rainbow. If they're not going to do it for all, then they have no business doing it for just 1.

So I understand that during February we will see movies, documentaries, etc... talking about the accomplishments of Blacks as well as their history of the civil rights movement, but I was watching VH1 last night and they had Menace II Society on as a tribute to black history month. Am I the only one who finds this hilarious? Rather than showing movies or documentaries about MLK Jr, Malcolm X, etc... they show a movie about thugs in South Central???
