I enjoy shows like Sanford and Son, the Jeffersons, and the honeymooners a lot more now than I did when I was a kid. Mostly live action sitcoms from the 80's fit the category of hat-to-love.

Didn't hate it but I never got Friends when I was young (For some obvious reasons), loved it years later.

It seemed like everyone I knew growing up loved this show, I could never get into it. I didn't care about six pretty white people with a cool apartment whining about nothing. Now tho I watch the reruns and its just pure 90's; the clothes, the music, classic sitcom stuff. I am honestly glad I never watched it as a kid so I have something nostalgic to watch now.

Just because I was a kid when they ran and didn't understand the humor, but I hated Taxi and MASH. When I got older, I found that they were actually pretty good shows.

This Old House! I hated that show growing up but it was one of my Dad's favorites. Now I love it and other shows like it! Same with my mom and her cooking shows such as Cajun Cooking with Justin Wilson so funny and now I'm usually bouncing between HGTV and Food Network when I watch TV Maybe also documentary type shows but I can't think of any right off hand.

As a young, kid, oh who am I kidding I'm still like this, I watch hours of cartoons. But when I was a young kid, I didn't care much at all for the Flintstones, it was like the only cartoon I couldn't watch, really. Now that I'm older, I do enjoy it much more.

Guilty pleasure, I'm 26 and still love watching old cartoons. Back then I didn't really enjoy cartoons as Top Cat or Jhonny Quest, but now if I happen to catch them on TV I'll watch them just out of nostalgia.

I agree with Friends. I never liked that show as a kid, thought it was boring. Now I love watching the reruns.

It's kinda like me and Seinfeld. When I was young my father watched reruns of the show and I never knew why he liked it. I was like,''Why are you watching this? I wanna watch Cartoon Network!'' But,now I'm older and I can't get enough of the show. George is my favorite.

I watched the first 5-6 episodes of Family Guy when the show first ran and couldn't stand it but in the years after the first cancellation I watched the show again in reruns and was hooked.

I don't know about a hate-to-love transformation, but as a kid I didn't get Pete & Pete. Watched some clips on Youtube last year after someone with seemingly similar taste as me on a message board included it in a list of shows that he still enjoys today, with the others in that list mirroring mine.

    Show was brilliant.

My experience with YCDTOTV was similar. I saw bits of it when I was 8 or so & thought it was dumb, then somehow or other (I don't recall how exactly), I saw it a year or two later & wound up loving it. I think that the first times I saw it I didn't like it because I only saw bits & had no context, but then when I saw it later I think I had caught it from the beginning, so understood what was going on & liked it.
I wouldn't call a situation like that an aquired taste though, more like a sudden change in taste or circumstances. An aquired taste situation is one where you keep experiencing something you don't like & gradually build up a tolerance for it.

My experience with V was the opposite. I really liked it when it first aired, but then lost interest later. Also, when you say "now", are you talking about some reruns/DVDs of the 80s series, or the new series from 2009?

In my case I watched You Can't Do That on Television, (when I was about 6 or so,) and really didn't get it and didn't laugh once. Fast forward a couple of years later and I saw it again by chance and was absolutely hooked.

Some shows you grow into. (I hated V and I mean HATED it when I was a kid in it's first run but now I can't believe I didn't like it back then because it's a favorite now.)

The whole concept of "an aquired taste" is either idiocy or masochism. Think about it. How either dumb, or masochistic does one have to be to take a bite of something, spit it out because it's disgusting, then go back for more? "OMG! This is disgusting! Let me have another..."

Some shows are an acquired taste, that's why I posted the thread.

There are some shows that I was into as a kid that I no longer care for for one reason or another, but I don't think there are any I hated then that I wound up liking now.

I can say most of the Live action Tween/Teen shows on Nickelodeon (You know, Clarissa Explains It All, Adventures of Pete and Pete, and so forth.) I was one of those kids that couldn't sit through something that wasn't a cartoon long enough to actually get into it. Watching them now a days though, I can see what people saw in them. Hell, some of them are actually pretty good, despite being aimed at an early 90s tween/teen group.

What if you liked everything you watched as a kid, and still like it today?
