As in what is the first mainstream song you remember when you were a child.
For example, some kid born in 1970 might of remembered Rock and Roll All Nite as their first song.

Now that's very hard to say. I've always been around a lot of music & there are numerous songs that I remember having heard many times before I can really remember. Whether it was the radio, LPs, cassettes, or 8-tracks, there's pretty much always been music being played around me. The earliest music related memories that I can specifically remember involve sitting around the stereo, listening to one tape/record after another. Picking out just one song from that is impossible, I don't even know if I could narrow it down to less than 10.
    Some of the songs in question include;
meat loaf: bat out of hell album (we always listened to the whole album, as if it were a single song)
johnny paycheck: take this job & shove it, 11 months & 29 days
    oak ridge boys: elvira
statler brothers: flowers on the wall
    johnny cash: rings of fire
3 dog night: joy to the world
charlie daniels: devil went down to georgia

I remember when I was about 5 & we got this stereo that was designed like a jukebox. It had a set of disco-ish lights on that bottom that flashed with the music. I loved to sit there & watch the lights, I especially liked when the blue one came on, but it rarely did (it was linked to loud bass notes IIRC).

I remember my mom singing One Tin Soldier as a lullaby! And when my Dad got his fancy new tape deck installed in the car decided it was time to school me in music which included The Eagles, Dr. Hook, Joe Crocker, Steve Miller Band, BTO and Iron Butterfly In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. Good Times!

On the radio, these all would have been '83 - '84 hit singles:

    Africa - Toto
Eyes of a Stranger - Payolas
Wrapped Around Your Finger - The Police

Albums played by my parents, usually on tape in the car:

Men at Work - Business as Usual
    Gino Vannelli - Black Cars
    Tina Turner - Private Dancer
    Jefferson Starship - Nuclear Furniture

I was born in 1985, but I think the first song I remember hearing all the time on the radio and watching the music video on TV was Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinead O'Connor in 1990.

I remember my first two favorite songs where:
"Point of no Return" by Exposé
    "Amanda" by Boston

That and some weird crap from Dr. Demento

Man, that song was SOOOOOO annoying, especially the way it was constantly being played everywhere. I think it was even played a lot on "normal" (ie, not-country) stations.

The first (mainstream) song?!... to difficult for me. Like trying to recall the first bubble from farting in a pool.

then when i was 9 or 10 ace of base - the sign. which i was more subjected to it than anything. all the popular kids in school were listening to it.
then within a year of that i herd green day - basket case and it was life changing.

Born in '82, the first mainstream song I can recall is "Walk Like an Egyptian," by The Bangles. This would be early 1988 I remember hearing it.

Sorry, add another person to the Achy Breaky Heart group here...if my mom didn't have that tape playing in the car, it was Billy Joel's "River of Dreams".
These aren't my rules. Come to think of it, I don't have any rules.
