Thread: I don't think any of us though we would see the day when this happened

It's like John Lassiter said "You know what...I'm kinda tired of doing all this serious shhhhhhhit all the time, and I need to work on my new shelf for my next set of Oscars, so fuck it. Imma fuck around and take it easy this time."

Thus we get a bad Dreamworks movie. Like Shrek The Third bad.
...okay maybe that's a little TOO harsh. Let's say Shrek 4 bad.

Either way, I can't say I'm too surprised seeing as how everything we've seen leading up to this showed NO promise other than a few funny sight gags making from of Japanese culture. Other than that, it's the lame overdone-nonsensical-spy-spoof routine that puts the star power before the story.

And don't worry, Debris. With Rango being a surprise hit, Winnie The Pooh almost guaranteed to fill the emotional void Pixar usually brings, and an all-star team being The Adventures Of Tin-Tin (which is coming out right in the midst of Oscar season), not even Pixar can weasel their way into another Oscar with this epic failure. Hell, even Rio and Happy Feet 2 have a better chance than Cars 2.

Well the orginal Cars lost to Happy Feet for best Animated Feature, and now there's a sequel to it.

Has Pixar run out of ideas? I mean there's going to be a prequel to Monster's Inc, called Monsters University in the next years.

Nah, they'll be back to form with Brave next year.

I think everyone is missing the point. John Lassiter made this film exactly how he wanted. The first Cars appealed to smaller kids and did EXTREMELY well at the box office and product sales were through the roof. This film is aimed for kids under 12 years old and they do not give a shit what critics think. This will be megahit also. It is going to make 300 million world wide and my guess is PIXAR could care less about the reviews. PIXAR will come back with a master piece like WALL-E or UP down the road.

You're standing up for the movie before even seeing it?

I'm going to see it tonight, by the way.

Bad reviews aren't going to stop little kids from begging their parents to see the movie and buy $40 t-shirts and $20 matchbox cars with the (insert-current-CGI-movie-du-jour-here) logo emblazened all over them. Any money that this movie fails to gross in the box office will be recouped with merchandising and corporate partnerships.

Hence why it won't fail in the box office to begin with. Almost any kid's movie, especially Pixar or Dreamworks, are destined to be huge successes regardless of quality. Also true with a lot of action movies, such as shitty ass Transformers.
