There were a number of bands/artists who hit it big in the 1990's, then seemed to vanish in thin air. Some of them were "one hit wonders", while others had at least a "handful" of hits. Here are a few I can think of at the moment:
Crash Test Dummies...the only song I know by them is "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm".
Ace Of Base...I believe their first hit was "All That She Wants" (late 1993) and their last being "Beautiful Life" (1996).
    The Cranberries..."Linger"
The Proclaimers..."I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)"
    4 Non Blondes..."What's Up?"
    Better Than Ezra..."Rosealia"
    BoDeans..."Closer To Free"
    Sophie B. Hawkins..."As I Lay Me Down"
    Republica..."Ready To Go"
    The Cardigans..."Lovefool"
    Joan Osborne..."One Of Us"
    Sponge..."Plowed", "Molly (16 Candles)"
    Real McCoy..."Another Night", "Run Away"
Gin Blossoms..."Hey Jealousy", "Until I Fall Away", "Follow You Down", etc.
Hootie and the Blowfish..."Hold My Hand", "Let Her Cry", "Only Wanna Be With You", etc.
Of coarse, there are many others...probably too many to mention. I have just about all of the above mentioned bands/artists in my (iTunes) 1990's playlist and mix CD's. Anyway...What happened to them and/or where are they now???

Linda Perry of 4 Non Blondes mostly works as a songwriter and producer these days and has had material recorded by Britney Spears and has collaborated with P!nk.

Joan Osborne still occasionally records. Late last decade she put out two releases on Time/ Life records. One was a Christmas album I found at a local discount store's $5 cd bin and I was suprised how good it was. Back in 2002 she was filmed doing Motown covers with some of the label's original crew of sessionmen for the film Standing in the Shadows of Motown.

I liked Hootie and the Blowfish, and I think that the lead singer now does country music. So I have been told.

Wow,Better Than Ezra... I had forgotten those guys. Hootie & the Blowfish dissolved a few years ago. I think the lead singer formed a country music band or something like that.

Ace Of Base sounded a lot like ABBA in some of their songs, especially my favorite, "Beautiful Life".

There were also The Rembrandts, who had the hit "I'll Be There For You" (theme from "Friends" ).

Hopefully Ace of Base found the sign and killed themselves.

I thought the video for Ace of Bases' All That She Wants was kind of sexy but all their singles they released after that pissed me off. I prefer the Cardigans. I don't know if they're still together but recently Nina Persson from the Cardigans formed a new band called A Camp and they had one really good single, Stronger Than Jesus and they had a covers ep they put up on itunes with a good version of Pink Floyd's Us and Them.
