    Recently I was watching TV and a McDonald's "I'm Lovin' It" Jingle commercial came on.

    Now I don't know about you guys BUT the GREATEST Jingle they ever had, and the one I remember most fondly is...

    It's a good time, for the great taste, of McDonald's

    I don't know why they ever got rid of it, as well as all of the AWESOME Ronald McDonald commercials. Now considering these commercials are all taped and on file why wouldn;t they use them again, like the McDonald's Ronald McDonald and the the Chicken Nuggets commercial Scared Silly Halloween Commercial.

    Granted computer effects now a days makes it possible to do virtually anything in a commercial BUT ya have to admit many of today's commercials lack something that the 80's commercials had. There is just something missing, it isn't the same feeling when you watch them.

    Am I nuts or do you guys agree?

    Yes I understand what you mean! I guess since I'm working during the day I don't see those Ronald McDonald commercials anymore....if they even still come on! I mean when and what time do kids commercials air anyway?

    I'm not sure how long they've been using "I'm loving It"....but my all time fav slogan was "It's a good time for the great taste of McDonalds"...used from 1984-1988... not a real long time if you think about it, but those were the best commercials!

    Funny, that sounds out for me too, the whole, "It's a good time for great taste and McDonald's" thing. The "I'm Lovin' one"...it's just "meh" to me, always have. Even here in Japan they use it, and I hate having to hearing on the commercials here. ^^;

    You know what's funny about the "It's a good time for the great taste... of McDonalds"? A short time later, they changed the slogan by just dropping a few words from the same slogan. "Good Time, Great Taste... McDonalds".

    I thought my television was on the fritz until I saw it displayed on the screen. I think that went on for a few years too, but the one aforementioned is also the one I remember the most. They've had so many slogans it's... well, never can figure out why.

    They used that one from 1988-89.. when it changed over to "Food Folks and Fun" Then around 1991 it was.."What you want is what you get at McDonalds today"... after that I lost track!

    I vaguely remember "Did somebody say McDonalds?" in the late 90s, early 2000s, and since then it's been that shoddy "I'm lovin' it". Boring.
    These aren't my rules. Come to think of it, I don't have any rules.

    Speaking of McDonald's commercials in the 1980's, my all-time favorite was the series of commercials that featured the guy dressed as a crescent moon wearing huge shades and singing "Make It Mac Tonight" to the tune of Bobby Darin's "Mack The Knife"! If I remember correctly, those commercials aired in the late 1980's, around between 1986 and 1988.

    Yes, I remember that too. McDonald's wanted to go national with expanded store hours the way it's competition, like Jack in the Box, had capitalized on nationwide 24-hour drive thru service at most stores.

    Speaking of older McDonald's ads, can you think of some of the characters you don't see anymore, like Mayor McCheese, Grimace or Capitan Crook. As I recall , Capitan Crook was one of the original characters when the "McDonaldland" campaign started on 1970.

    Here is an old ad that ran on Saturday mornings when I was in junior high school. Notice how the original Captain Crook used "googly eyes" on a freeky rubber mask:
