Can anyone remember what the top TV shows were from the year of your birth?

I was born in July of 1981, and thus the 1980-81 summer schedule would have applied:

From the looks of it, the highest-rated show during this time of the season in TV history was Dallas, then airing on CBS on Friday nights.

I was born in 1982. Popular shows of the time were: Dallas, Alice, Three's Company, Dynasty, M.A.S.H., Newhart, The A-Team, The Love Boat and Fall Guy.

Cheers had it's first season, Taxi had the beginning of it's final season and WKRP had it's final season.

SNL regained popularity after beginning a comeback in 1981 (stalled slightly by a writer's strike.) Eddie Murphy had become a major star of the show after starting as a featured player in 1980 and Jo Piscopo also had a large following. This along with appearances by musical guests The Clash, Queen and Men at Work gave the show back the credibility it had lost in the early 80's.

To my knowledge, Dallas always aired on CBS on Friday nights. I even used to watch it sometimes with my mother and grandmother in the mid - late 80s, even though I didn't like the show (I was too young to get it). I think it came on at 9:00 pm. I also remember Falcon Crest coming on after it.

Anyway, since we were both born the same here, I'm not going to even look. Dallas was very popular for its entire run, iirc.

I was born in September of 1984. I was born 10 days before The Cosby Show premiered, so you guess what tv was like back then.

Garfield: "The local bus transit is doing their part to help with the weight loss program: each year, they stop further and further away from the curb!

"Gunsmoke" was the top rated show of 1957 but my heart belongs to Danny Thomas in "Make Room for Daddy", which was another hit show for CBS.
