Probably not, people these days want money, and a lot of it.

I wish they would make a channel like this, but like I said, tv broadcasters are GREEDY.

Fuck greedy people. These people don't care about ratings, they just want money.

Remember that this type of channel is probably not going to be on TV ever, particularly due to greed, remember that.

Ya know, if "they" had a proper research department, they would notice retro and nostalgic culture is at a peak right now. 80's and 90's characters are on shirts at the mall, pop music is emulating new wave and synth pop, high top sneakers and dayglo colors are huge.

Kids should know where this stuff comes from. Kanye West didn't invent it. And frankly, I'm sick to death of seeing Scooby Doo and the Flinstones as the only pre-2000 alternative to modern animated shows.

Wow! Your Saturday morning lineup really makes me feel old! To me, classic would mean more Hanna-Barbera, Filmation, and Krofft shows. Maybe even Speed Racer and the original Spider-Man or some of Gerry Anderson's sci fi marionette shows like Thunderbirds or Stingray. Cartoon Network and Sci-Fi Channel started out playing all those retro shows at first but look at them now!

I honestly think that some people need to stop letting their whole lives revolve around cartoons. Especially when it comes to something like this.

...and no, a channel like this is not happening anytime soon as far as I know. In fact, I think the idea of making this type of channel is crap.

I know that most channels in the old days showed cartoons that were at the time Saturday morning cartoons. If I wanted to I'd make a TV channel that's dedicated to only retro shows, like TV Land was until it went in the wrong direction, and every Saturday morning there would be a retro Saturday morning line-up.

wow... why are you even here? thats the whole point of this site. to reminisce about the good ol days, bitch about the crap thats out now, and whine about how they dont release or play enough of the good ol stuff.

and as far the question goes, no, unfortunately, i dont think anyone will ever give us a retro channel. it just wont be profitable enough.

but, i think, if we could get organized enough, we stand a good chance of getting Hulu to post some retro stuff. more than they already do i mean.

like i said, we just have to come together and organize and coordinate. but, dont look at me to get that done. whenever i try to do something like that, it never goes well.

    shows id like to see:

    Muppet Babies
    Long Ago & Far Away
old episodes (late 70s to early 90s) of Sesame Street
    80s eps of Captain Kangaroo

What's wrong with being a HUGE cartoon geek?

And correct if I'm wrong here but didn't I hear something about how YOU want be an animator? (which is what I'm inspiring to become, myself.). Pretty interesting carrer choice for someone with such stong words against those of us that "let our whole lives revolve around cartoons" and wants an "all animated TV channel," I must say.

Anyhoo, to answer the original question, an "all saturday mouring" tv channel just isn't in the cards, thanks to the rise of DVDs and internet, there isn't any money anymore in a channel that shows nothing but "retro" tv shows. That's why even TV Land a channel that did indeed use to show nothing but retro TV shows started having to create original programming. It's a lot harder to get sponsers for an older TV show nowadays, which is where there is money.

Plus sadly (since as I've proudly mention before and will mention again, I'm a "cartoon geek), TV animation is probably at it's lowest point ever in this day and age. Kids nowaday tend to be more into "tween" shows like Hannah Montana and ICarly, not saying there's anything wrong with that excatly (though it's far from my cup of tea and I do indeed hate the negitive impact it's had on animation). Nick is starting to get back in the animation department with two new shows (Planet Sheen and Tuff Pup), but it's taken them awhile, especially since now Spongebob Squarepants is what call "semi-retired" since epiodes aren't being made but "TV specials" are, not to mention all Disney really has going is "Phines and Ferb" (I won't even get into the horror that is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse). Heck even Cartoon Network-CARTOON NETWORK- has started airing live action tv shows.

So NO sadly an "all saturday mouring" channel would not happen anytime soon, heck at this point, it would be nice just for some REAL saturday mouring cartoons on saturday mourings, we really don't even have that anymore (other that CW4Kids).

The only problem with a station dedicated to just Saturday morning programming, would be licensing issues as well as marketing. Who would this channel be marketed to? As much as I LOVED the shows I watched when growing up, I'm not sure if I could watch some of them again as an adult. Some shows I do still like and can still watch, but then there are others where I've literally asked myself, "Why did I like this again?"

That aside, it would be a nice way to show the kids coming up what we grew up with and what our parents grew up with.

There is nothing wrong with being an animation fan. What I mean by people letting their whole lives revolve around cartoons, I'm referring to the type of people who only focuses on cartoons and nothing else. Not anything else in the whole freaking world, not the economy, not anything else on TV or even reality. I've seen many people like these, and let me tell you that is just creepy.

As for me working for animation. Yes, that is something that I would love to learn, but it's not my main career choice. My main career choice mostly involves working with different computer programs since that's something I'm very good at.

    You're such a stick-in-the-mud blueluigi.

It would be nice. However getting all the production companies or whoever has the rights to them now on board would be next to impossible. Maybe Cookie Jar Entertainment who owns the rights to Dic who made a good percentage of the old school cartoons will make their own channel someday.

...and you double-posted that because why...?

Yes, I have heard of the new channel called The Hub which is something that's going to replace Discovery Kids. The good thing about that channel is that they are going to be showing some retro cartoons (Transformers, G.I. Joe, and Batman Beyond) even though it's going to consist mostly of their new original shows.
