    We always put our tree up either right before Thanksgiving or right after. I do the decorating. The last few years, because we had extra lights, I put a string of lights up around the front window as well as string some lights around the huge mirror in the bathroom. After I decorate the tree, I put the family's stockings on my mom's sewing table (we don't have a fireplace) and put away the boxes that everything is stored in. On Christmas day, about 7:30 in the morning so, we get up and open out presents. While we do, we have strawberry pop tarts and egg nog.

    Continued from my previous post, here is how my Christmas day usually goes;

    I'm still usually the first one to awaken in the morning. I usually wake up too early (like around 6am sometimes) so I just turn on my tv and watch a Christmas special or two. If no one is up, I'll wake them up, but for the past few years, my mom has already been up before everyone else. So once everyone is awake, we all go downstairs and open our presents. My brother hasn't been able to spend Christmas with us for the past 5 years as he lives too far away and can't afford the trip, so it's not as nostalgic as it used to be. But it's still great fun. Once we are done with the presents, my sister goes back to bed and I (like a little kid) do not go back to bed, I stay up and use all my new stuff! My mom makes bacon, eggs, hash browns, etc. for breakfast. Then they start cooking the turkey dinner. Throughout the day, random family will come over to visit. Sometimes, we go to people's houses, and other times we wait till the day after Christmas. My cousin and her mom always come over for Christmas supper and they usually stay for a while afterwards. Then when they're gone, me and my dad usually watch a movie or use something new we got like a board game or something. Before we know it, the day is over. Then, (where I live) it's Boxing Day...

    I remember always feeling sad and depressed, almost let down around 1pm on Christmas Day. I guess because most of the time after we opened presents early in the morning there was nothing left for us to do. We didn't ever really go and visit relatives, so I guess it was a feeling of all that build up for Christmas all month long and then bam, it's over.

    We would always get up really early (like 7am) to open presents on Christmas morning. We would usually go to some relatives' house later in the day for Christmas dinner, or occasionally have them over to our house.

    Like others have already mentioned...I always used to have a VERY hard time of falling asleep on Christmas Eve. Especially when I was expecting something extra special the next morning such as a new video game system.

    When I was young I would wake up early, usually between 5 or 6 am, wake my mother up and open my presents. I'd then spend a few hours seting up and playing with my new toys. Then I'd go with my mother to her mothers house for lunch and see my aunty and her kids there. Then Christmas afternoon my mother and I would go to my fathers parents house where we'd also see my uncles and aunties and their kids, by the time I'd get home from that it was time for bed.

    As my maternal grandmother got older into her 80's and 90's we would have christmas lunch at our house and grandma and my aunty and cousins would also come over.

    Usually on Christmas, my immediate family and I exchange gifts, doing one gift per person until they're all unwrapped. Then we burn the wrapping paper in the fireplace and make coffee, followed by the usual 'Merry Christmas' phone calls to family.

    I used to wake up early and rip off all the wrapping on my gifts, and rummage under the tree for everyone else's.

    Now I am not a Christian, I view it as something my kid can enjoy. She wants her Ho Ho Tree put up!

    The big tradition is for us to visit my Aunt Janet on Christmas Eve. We have dinner there and open up presents we get from her. We always make pigs-in-a-blanket and before every meal but after my Uncle John leads us in a prayer, I make a short speech. I always write one of these every year, taking note of things that happen in the interrim between one Christmas Eve and another.

    The following day, we spend at home, opening our Christmas Day presents. We spend the bulk of the day working with them.

    Needless to say, I look forward to all of it.
