Everyone knows about the iPhone , PS3 , Wii, etc... waiting on line for 2-3 days straight in front of Bestbuy.

What about when the SNES was released, has anyone waited in line for 2-3 days straight for the SNES System back in the early 90s ?

Its funny when you think about it, standing in line with no cellphone (didnt exist to the public) a black & white gameboy or a sony walkman with 4 extra batteries.

I don't remember any kind of frenzy for the SNES, let alone ANY Game system prior to the PS2.

The PS2 was the first wave. The X-Box I don't think was quite as heavy. I remember when it came out, I actually went to Target, walked right in & picked one up... along with this bonus tri-pod chair... walked right out & went to my day-job.

The next big thing was each system's release. SNES? Certainly not around here... and if there was, it certainly wasn't publicized in Television locally (hell, I was 15+ when it came out so I should remember this).

I don't really remember people waiting outside at a store for a system's release until Dreamcast. That was the one that kind of kicked things off.

People went crazy for the Nintendo 64 when it came out. That was the first time I saw people go into a frenzy over a new system. It was almost impossible to find before Christmas 1996. Had it not been for the fact that my family knew someone who worked for Nintendo who was able to get us one straight from the Nintendo warehouse, I wouldn't have been able to get one that year.

I waited about a year or so, I only "had" to have one after playing MK on it.

I got mine for Christmas. I didn't even pay attention to things like that back then. But I do remember people going bonkers for the N64.

That's what i remember most clearly.

I knew a couple kids who had parents that stood outside over night and what not for it.
