Surprised no one's mentioned Rollerblade Barbie yet. Rollerblade Barbie is the reason why you don't see any toys that throw sparks anymore, such as the Transformers Monsterbots or all those generic plastic ray guns that used to deck the asles of the local drugstore and supermarket. She was also the subject of a hilarious Dave Barry column explaining the reason:

I had the Rollerblade Barbie! The sparks scared me crapless as a kid.
I am deranged, but so, so playful!

They banned Spandex at my school and for some reason the Simpsons Nuclear Family shirt (how exactly is that offensive?)

    LOL
    Spandex, offensive? Yes. XD

Simpsons, well.. lets just say when it came out it was as controversial as Family Guy etc. So I guess that makes sence.

Like i said they banned southpark, but the shirts wern't offensive. I mean this one girl got in trouble for carman on her shirt. He was just standing there!!
She bought it because he was cute, and she was a lil chubby and thought it was cute to have a chubby cartman shirt.

some kid came to school wearing a simpsons shirt that said "eat my shorts" it was like '92 or '91, and i remember they made him turn it inside out.

Haha. I remember a parody of Teen Talk Barbie on The Simpsons. One of the girls' dolls said "My Spidey Sense is tingling!" lol.

There were these toys a few years back (I think they were called Yo Yo Waterballs). They were basically a Yo Yo filled with this soap substance. When you squeeze it you could see it floating around. Anyway some kindergartner broke it open somehow and drank the soap. He got some sort of heart disease. This was around 2003/2004.

I heard about that. in fact, I knew someone who had one of those things and it touched somthing sharp and popped.
    ROSEBUD....

yes, rosebud frozen peas. Full of country goodness and GREEN PEANESS. wait that's terrible, I QUIT!

oh what luck, there's a french fry stuck in my beard.

I always wondered how a kid would choke on something that huge... *shrug*

im sorry that my mind is in the gutter but that just sounds like a funny statement. not the idea of kids choking but how someone could choke on something so big. lol

I remember a pregnant doll that came out (not barbie but something similar) and Walmart refused to sell it because the doll was presumed to be an unwed pregnant girl because there was no ring on the finger!

I think they mentioned the Teen Talk Barbie uproar in my current Algebra textbook

Yeah. I remember the Talking Barbie fiasal. I was 14 and I didn't really care about Barbie anymore but feminists felt that things Barbie said were sexist.

Pogs were banned at one elementry school in my area because they had this inexplicible habbit of shattering once they hit the ground. And at my cousin's kid's elementry school they were discouraged from bringing Pokemon cards to school because of fights over them. In fact a kid at one school in my area got stabbed in the leg by another kid because he wouldn't trade a card that the other kid wanted.

Are you sure you're thinking about Pogs ? Because Pogs can't shatter. They're made from regular, run of the mill cardboard. I have an almost complete set of Jurassic Park Pogs and, I think, some Star Trek ones.

Maybe they are talking about the slammers? Those were usually made of plastic.

when I was in elementary school they banned Simpson shirts, then anything with spuds McKenzie on it. Next it was garbage pail kids, then anything with the play boy bunny symbol.

I also remember when they recalled the poky balls and the cabbage patch kids.

now they are recalling all those Elmo, Dora, and sponge bob toys that have lead in the paint because kids suck/chew on the toy and get lead poisoning.

also my boyfriend once speared his little brother with a lawn dart. they still fight about it.lol.

I hate to tell you guys this but: they just announced that keyboards cause premature hairloss. jk

OK that I actually agree with because the last thing I want my young daughter to associate herself with is anything having to do with playboy. It just doesn't make for a good environment at school and sends the wrong ideas to boys.

Giga Pets were banned in elementary school because people played with them during class or the things started to beep. Honestly, I would have rather played with mine than listened to my nitwit teachers. Not a toy, but the backpacks on wheels got banned because they 'impeded hallway traffic'. We had no lockers in that school, so most of the time, we were lugging around 25-30 pounds of books on our backs. Heaven forbid we didn't want back problems.

My high school banned playing cards (just a normal deck) because they allegedly encouraged gambling. But the school had no problem with the Playboy icon on clothing/bags/etc.

I dident read all the pages so forgive me if someone already said this...

In the early 90's, McDonald's had Sonic the Hedgehog toys... (i was obsessed with sonic at the time...) and the tails toy, was really cool... hence it was banned for being cooler than the sonic toy.. lol jk.. no actually, you put tails on a launcher, and then you pulled a string and it launched in the air. It was soon banned, but untill a few years ago, i still knew where mine was.
