Some people may think this was a bad idea, but I love this song. I've listened to several Dee Dee King tracks and I think he's a credible rapper. One thing, though...Was this something he did of his own volition, or was he doing this to capitalize on the success of Run-DMC's version of "Walk This Way"?
In the Ramones documentary End of the Century Dee Dee says it was his idea to go into Rap, he was inspired by people he met while in rehab in the late 80's. He said in the documentary he in retrospect somewhat regretted his rap phase, he was just trying to find a way to get out of the Ramones, as he was getting fed up with the group.
Dee Dee worked out an arrangement with the others that although he would leave the Ramones, he would still submit songs to the group and the group could feel free to cover stuff from his solo material.
Dee Dee wound up contributing some excellent songs to the Ramones' 90's albums. I especially like his contributions Poison Heart and Born to Die in Berlin.
