Tell us about your first musical concert you went to. Not a school one that you played trumpet in when you were 12, but one put on by a promoter and you bought a ticket to go and see.

Mine's embarassing. I was taken to see Rick Astley in 1988 by my sister. She thought I was a fan- I wasn't. I was into Guns and Roses at the time but she waited in line to get us some tickets and I didn't want to hurt her feelings so I went. He did a surprisingly good show and had a very strong live voice, plus played the drums for a couple of songs (he was a drummer before SAW remodelled him). I liked him a lot more after seeing his show.

My first concert of choice was the B-52's a year later and they sucked bigtime and I was bitter at paying $45 for my ticket. They went on stage for one hour and did no encore. People stood around for 15 minutes afterwards asking, 'is that it???' Utter crap. And it was their Cosmic Thing tour, so they had a few hits from that record to plug but they didn't.

Mine was at the CNE in Toronto in the summer mid 1980's, with my parents, it was David Bowie and Duran Duran. My first of choice, well at a big venue, was Rob Zombie at Copps Colleseum in the early 2000's, we were in the pits and kept getting moved around from the front to the back, until we found a section of the hockey penalty box that was not removed and stayed steady there. We got really high and drunk as hell. And I had a 250+ lb woman on my shoulders for most of the night. Really, a very typical night in my younger years, thankfully tho when I went back to said woman's house- since I was at that point separated yet again- two friends we met up with at a bar afterwards invited themselves back. thankfully nothing happened.

The first that I can recall clearly is Los Lobos, who put on a hell of a show, even though I didn't recognize a single song. My first concert of choice was Rush.

My first show was Yes in September of 1994. It was near the end of the last tour with Trevor Rabin on lead guitar before he left and their 70's lead guitarist Steve Howe returned.

My husband would freak out hearing Rush was your first concert, Salty, as you know he lurves them.

That Rob Zombie gig sounded pretty wild. I went to a Snout and Superjesus gig about 10 years ago (local indie bands) and the singer of Snout was a true rock star jumping off drumkits. The crowd of 300 went crazy and poor old me in front row got squashed by the stampede.

A girl I once knew had her hand bitten by another woman at a Nick Cave and the Badseeds concert for no reason. The woman grabbed her hand and choped down on it.

I first went to a Bob Dylan concert last summer. Since then, I've gone to see Ben Folds, Cake, and Benjamin Del Shreve.
