In 1999 I was a senior in H.S. and I lost my virginity that year!!! LOL!! Newayz.......I need help!!!! In the 80's I lived in Germany and my grandma sent me cartoon's that she had recorded. I'm a huge cartoon fanatic!!! Well lately this one cartoon has really been bugging me and I can't figure out what it was called! What I do remember is that it had a yellow robot which was the main character and he had a "girlfriend" who was kinda a white colored robot and she had a heart on her. The whole cartoon had a carebear feel to it!! They helped out humans and they went to robot land!!! Plz somebody help me!!!! If I don't get this out of my head I think I might go crazy!!! You can email me @ [email protected]!!!!!! Thanks!!!!! xoxoxoxo

Make a thread about it. There'd be a greater chance of an answer that way.

I was in tenth grade, moved to a new house in Damascus, MD. Knee-deep in my Pokemon addiction, deep into my art/cartooning, N64 dominated much of my time...what else...

Heh, had to get testosterone injections 'cuz I was a late bloomer (FAIL), saw Star Wars Episode I, had three or four best friends...1999 is a bit hazy to me. Kind of a rough year in my adolescence.

    Then...
I was moving to 9th to 10th grade, I was obsessed with the Phantom Menace craze (seeing it 3 times in theaters), excited about the new South Park film, and I was playing the original Gameboy Pokemon.

    Now-
Out of that crappy High School (now trying to get a non-retail job), Still obsessed with Star Wars (not so much the Phantom Menace), I'm a continuous fan of South Park (I wish they would release a new movie), and I still like the main Pokemon games.

We are in 2009 now, so tell me:

Where were you in 1999, which was 10 years ago?

Here are the events I encountered back then:

I started boarding school, therefore, life as I knew it was over. I have been miserable ever since.
I opened up to the all new Dreamcast and Neo Geo Pocket consoles as the year drew to a close
My brother and I embraced Pokémon!
We got Digital Television for the first time, by initiating our subscription to Sky's Digital Sattelite TV service (which launched at a rather late point the year before)
We went on vacation to the USA for the first time
A Bug's Life and Tarzan were the only 2 films I saw at the cinema!

You went to Boarding School? Sucker!!!! Your life must have been a living Hell.

Wow, it feels odd to reminisce about something that doesn't seem like it was too long ago.

Let's see, I was 11 and in middle school and I was really into alternative rock. I watched Daria, Dragonball Z was the sht. (pokemon was also popular and I traded cards at lunch.) I also went to New York and Boston for the first time ever I still played with SNES, but I was really into playstation. I played Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon for hours.

I remember when Phantom Menace came out, but I didn't go see it.

I loved Space Ghost: Coast to Coast

    The Blair Witch Project.

And I also wore a pair of grey Vans sneakers! I was really pleased to see someone else mention them. They were my favorite sneakers at the time.

I saw the sixth sense in theaters the day it came out, not knowing anything about the film (whether there was hype or not for it.) I played sick that day I also saw Toy Story 2 in theaters and liked it much better than the first one.
Also I believe the election was about to start the next year. That was a bloody battle.

JFK died which CNN and Fox proceeded to massively exploit for views. Shel Silverstein died, we read a lot of his poetry that year to commemorate.

Austin Powers, which I pretty much think sums up this carefree year.

BTW I completely agree about this decade, I don't feel as if it will end fast enough.

There's just nothing to do in this decade, no music to listen to, no tv shows to watch. Does this decade even have pop culture? All I can think of is youtube.

It's hard to believe that 1999/2000 was ten years ago. I was only 6, and we watched the ball drop on TV. But, it seems that america has somewhat regressed. Everything popular is either a remake of an older movie, some reality TV show, or some hip hop song that drops the n word every 5 seconds...

Hellz yeah. 1990-2003 were the best years ever. 1999 was definitely part of the best of it.

I remember the SEGA Dreamcast (best thing ever and everything on it) and so much more! SPOCIOUS times, SPOCIOUS times...

I was in kindergarten, then started first grade. I watched The Drew Carey Show sometimes with my mum and got a crush on the British character, Mr. Wick (which came back in full force when I discovered the actor's talk show seven years later) and listened to pretty much whatever music my sister did. Every Friday night, we would make pizza and watch the TGIF lineup.

10 years ago..I was barely starting middle school.

Life was all about Dreamcast, Rocket Power, Dragonball Z, and the very first Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.

I remember that Berlyn dude (who was supposedly Alex Wright) was having this big super hyped debut on WCW.

Dennis Rodman, Master P, and Insane Clown Posse were all wrestling in the WCW.

Everyone in 6th grade wore K-Swiss or Etnies shoes, and collected Pokemon cards.

They would sell Fun Dip and Caramel Apple Pops in my main class on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Both Eminem and Britney Spears debuted, and Dr. Dre dropped The Chronic 2001.

Mtv had a really cool spring break that year.

Then there was Eiffel 65 with that "Blue" song.

Everybody loved that "Mambo #5" song.
