It was about this time of year in 1999 that I ordered Tae Bo workout VHS tapes off of the tv. I was a senior in highschool and very overweight. The tapes came in early February and I started doing them twice daily and lost a crapload of weight. To bad I waited until halfway through my senior year to start trying to lose weight. I might have enjoyed highschool better if Tae Bo had been released a few years earlier LOL
I got a PS1 for Christmas, I was in grade 3 or 4 I think. I was a troublemaker, I saw Goldeneye for the first time. N64 was awesome, and I saw the first showing of the phantom menace. I loved it at the time.
Actually, Spongebob was originally going to end after season 3. They stopped production during 2002 and they were slowly premiring all the episodes from season 3 in the US while other countries already aired all season 3 episodes in 2002 while the US slowly premiered them up until 2004. After the Spongebob Squarepants movie was released, then they resumed production of the show with a new season in 2005.

Me? I was a ninth grader, anime was my life, particularly Sailor Moon, Pokemon, and Dragonball Z, I was obsessed with Nintendo, particularly Ocarina of Time, I still liked Hip Hop, I still did art and was very much afraid of my own shadow as a weird 14/15 year old.

I was already out of high school for seven years and out of the Air Force for two.What I can recall the most is how everyone was saying Y2K was going to hit,crash every computer system around the world and put us into another Dark Age
In 1999, I was a 15 year old high school freshman I watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dawsons Creek, Daria, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and 7th Heaven. I listened to Green Day. I hung out with my small group of friends I becane a sophomore in September I turned 16 in November I had a dry and biting sense of humor that got me in trouble in school.
I had gotten an N64 for Christmas '98, so pretty much the entire first half of the year was playing Star Fox 64 and GoldenEye 007. I was in third grade (a rough year for me) and about to turn nine years old. I had recently seen the Star Wars special editions, so I wanted to see Episode I so badly. It wasn't until years later that I realized how bad it was. That May, I got Zelda: Ocarina of Time for my birthday, and that's still probably the best present I ever got. Later that year, I got interested in a little thing called Pokemon. I saw the movie that fall, and got the Game Boy game that Thanksgiving. My family moved about this time, from Oklahoma to Virginia. I was halfway through fourth grade, and started at a new school right after Christmas.
I was in 8th grade and started 9th grade in the fall.
I turned 16 in July.
I bought my first Playstation in 1999. I bought it used...but it went out on me a few months later.
As soon as I got my Playstation, I bought Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
The only movies of 1999 that stand out to me are Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace and The Matrix.
I got my learner's permit and took driver's ed...but I didn't get my license for two more years.
I started watching Dragon Ball Z for the first time. My friend and I really got into it, and watched it every day on Cartoon Network.
In late November, Seattle experienced the WTO riots. What a mess.
Everyone was scared about Y2K. Even my parents bought a bunch of supplies just in case.
EDIT: How could I forget the Sega Dreamcast coming out in September? The graphics on that thing blew my socks off when I first saw it in action. It had such good potential. I bet if the Saturn had been a success...the Dreamcast would have cleaned house.
I was in the fifth grade, and it was either this month or the next when I took Pork Soda by Primus to school, and I got into trouble for listening to it at school.
i was in 6th grade, yknow, watching DBZ, watching Powerpuff girls like crazy- including Ed Edd N Eddy, involved myself in the Pokemon craze and not finding out about Y2k untill after it "happend." And just enjoying the final good year of the 90's.
You know something really weird that just happened to me within the last couple of days...an old friend of mine who I hung out a TON with in 1999 (he's the one who got me into Dragon Ball Z), just contacted me a couple of days ago after I hadn't talked to him in years. He came over today and we played Super Smash Bros. (the N64 original)! We played that game a ton in 1999, which was the year it came out. It's so funny how I'm started 2009 off hanging out with the friend I had a lot of good times with in 1999, and playing a game I played a lot in 1999. History really does repeat itself sometimes.
1999.....I was in the 6th grade, and my least favorite 90's year. I didn't watch cartoons as much, still collected pokemon cards etc etc, it was an alright year.
I remember I've been wanting to play Super Smash Bros but I didn't at that time. It wasn't until Super Smash Bros Melee that I actually started playing Super Smash Bros.
1999 was a tough year for me, mainly school, but I don't want to talk about that.
- I started using the internet - I got totally in to the Beatles - I got into my first and only anime, but I think you know what it is - It was my final year in the 20th Century
