I would say that the Misfits are the best punk rock band ever. Glen Danzig sounded like Elvis' demonic corpse come back to sing about hell and ghouls in a fun way.

Also, if Gogol Bordello counts as a punk band, they are amazing live.

Finally, Slayer's album of punk rock covers is just pure speed and aggression.

The Misfits went way downhill after Michael Graves took over for Danzig. Danzig went way downhill after he left The Misfits. The common factor is that Glenn Danzig is a dumbass.

Haha, I'm not much for anything he did after the misfits... nor am I for the misfits without Danzig.

But misfits with Danzig... now that was something special.

I used to like Choking Victim/Leftöver Crack, until I saw a video of them having a concert in the middle of a street in New York City illegally, playing one of their 'fuck the cops' songs. The next day, they were sending out announcements to their Myspace fans asking them to protest the arrest of their lead singer. As an advocate for natural selection, it's safe to say that I stopped listening to them that day...and pretty much stopped listening to "punk music" altogether after that.

Once upon a time, NoFX was my favorite band. I loved No Use For a Name, Operation Ivy, Citizen Fish, Pennywise, The Misfits, Bad Religion, Strung Out, Abuso Sonoro, yada yada yada...Yeah, I can't really think of them all. My discs are in storage somewhere in the house and I guess I'm just holding on to them for my son, if he ever decides to like 'the old shit' when he's in high school.
