Ok Picture this!... I go into Best buy (for example) And Noticed the PS3s (80gig) are still intact (as well as1 60 gig)And I'm think of getting one of these bad boys. So one of the Associates comes up and gives me some info on the system. (a lil too much info) as I'm told that you Cannot play Ps2 and Ps1/X games on it. WTF? Now then I ask why, then he tells me that the 40 gig will play PS2 games. (WTF? why does that sound like Bull shit) so then I make the statement then why are the advertising that the 80s can go backwards and then go put on their box that they can't? well to make a long story short. I decided to go online to see wth is going on . just to find more bad news. in which I find this...http://playstation.custhelp.com/cgi-bin ... _faqid=232 now the ones they have in BB are the Late edition that have no BWC so now I'm prolly fucked.

So now here's the big question.. Is it really worth it to buy the PS3, just for only a hand full of games?

Because I really Don't want a big shiny black dick sitting on my table , while I'm just the balls just sitting there doing nothing.

Yes I know that was from Bad Boys.

For one, it's too expensive. If it's not backwards compatible, fuck it, because the PS3 doesn't have a very good library of games.

and fuck the blu ray disc player. You can get those cheaper alone than on the ps3.

It's worth it. It's got a great lineup and it's one of the better blu-ray players on the market.

now it is...its got a great first party
i don't see why people groan about not having backwards compatibility anymore, the system was made for future games(and you can still play PS1 games)..and you can always buy a cheap 100 dollar slim ps2 with 2 games with it at walmart..
but ya, nows a good time to get one and the price actually seems a bit more reasonable now with the bigger harddrive, its got a better library now since before it was similar to 360's
i recommend Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance 1 & 2 and Uncharted...and think of future games to come God of War 3, Twisted Metal, etc...

and to make things clear, the older PS3 models play PS2 and 1 games,(40, New 80, and 160 gigs do not play PS2 games) and all models play PS1 games so the guy you were talking to probably didn't know what he was talking about

Yes, the PS3 is worth buying! The games (e.g. "Metal Gear Solid 4") are some of the best the console has to offer! Also, the 80 gig (older model) and 60 gig (Now discontinued by Sony, but I wouldn't recommend getting this one anyway) ARE backwards compatible. The newer 160 gig isn't, but this is really no big deal. Just go out and buy one of those slim PS2s to play your PS1 and PS2 games. They're actually not that much nowadays.

Like Mr. Funky said, it is worth it now. It's starting to pick up a bit now with it's exclusive titles. Games like LittleBigPlanet, Resistance, Resistance 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, etc. really helped the system gain some value. I honestly think the PS3 will improve a great deal over the next year or so. I love my Wii, but once the novelty of that console wears off and people realize the games for it are pretty mediocre, the PS3 will pick up.

The PS3 is a piece of shit. Way too expenisve for the 4 or 5 games that are actually decent and worth getting on the system. And at least two of them will be RPGs.

Well I already Have Both PS1/X and 2 (real) and they both do work good. (Plus I also Figured that the Svid works best for flats) So I'll give this some more thought. Besides I still have to Clear $600+ from a $1,500 Card.

Well I'm not up to getting a PS3 just yet. I might wait for more good games (such as the new Final Fantasy game).

    If you don't like the 360, get a PS3.
If don't like FPS and Final Fantasy/God of War, Then get a Wii.

It is worth getting a PS3, but avoid the new 80gb and 160gb models, they can't play PS2 games. Get a preowned 20gb, 60gb or older 80gb system instead.

I used to have a PS3 with backwards compatability, but the graphics looked worse for some reason. I sold it and a year later bought one from Japan with Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan. I like it because it plays Blu-ray, American and Japanese games. I gave up on the 360 because of the red ring of death. On the other hand, the 360 does have more games.

I would say the PS3 is worth it for the Blu-Ray alone. I have a 40GB PS3 and I tried a few of my Blu-Ray discs on it and it works great. I do not have many games for it though (Just GTA4, The Orange Box and Assasin's Creed).

I have a big big collection of ps2 games in my library that i still like to this day and age, and due to lack of room I had to sell my Gamecube but i could keep my games via backwards compatibility. I believe that if they kept that backwards compatibility they would of got a lot more ps2 owners on board. Thats just my thought.

Stuff I play more than my ps2 (and more than a ps3 if I had one).

    super famicom
    megadrive
    av famicom
    gameboy advance sp
    neo geo mvs
    street fighter 2 arcade pcb

ps3....pfft.....send it back to george forman (and I'm sure I spelled his name wrong).

xbox 360....it's a pc that plugs into your tv....running windows 95

nintendo wii............................most original idea on the market right now. But if you're like me and have the cash/space for classic consoles......well then STEP ASIDE WII!
