I have a passport, but I haven't used it in more than a decade.

It's expired, then. They're only good for 10 years.

I have one, I mainly go to Mexico to visit relatives.

I never needed my passport to go to Mexico, is it required now?
I have a passport and have also lived abroad.

Really? I honestly didn't know that. I thought the only thing that had to be updated was the picture. You learn something new everyday.

Yessir. I even have an old travelling case with seals from all over the World. I did quite a bit of travelling in my younger days.

    Ok

as far as passports go, say someone is convicted of a MINOR misdemeanor from, oh say, 20 years ago. This is the only thing on that person's record.

    Can they get a passport?

I don't have one yet. I don't do a lot of traveling, but I have been considering getting one in the near future. I'd love to leave the country at least once before I die haha

I don't have a passport, it's too expensive to go anywhere.

I've been to Canada a few times though....you don't need a passport to go there. Yet. I think by next year it will be required though.
