They were all amazing in their own way.

SMB was awesome because it started the franchise pretty much, it was an amazing game, and you could play any level you liked once you found out about the warp vines.

SMB2 Was so much different than SMB, it was a little crazy but it had a certain charm to it. You can't sit there with a straight face and say you didn't love floating with the princess or watching Luigi's wacky leg maneuvers, not to mention how fun it was to fight the Birdo's/play the coin slots.

SMB3 Was just an amazing game, you could store items, magic warp whistles, the Tanooki suit, Hammer Suit, Frog suit! Jumping boot! The Evil Sun, random Hammer Encounters, Card Houses, coin ships, Boos!

In conclusion they were all amazing in their own way, and I have to give it up for the classic that started it all.

Super Mario Bros. 1 + Duck Hunt, thats right I loved that game too!

SMB 3 pushed the NES to its limits. It looked, and played, beautifully for an 8-bit.

Super Mario Bros 3 all the way, it's got more fun and adventure to it, plus a bit better of a challenge. The layout of 2 just doesn't appeal to me much as a Mario game. And I know you can't beat the original, I love that too!

I would have to say the first one, mario brothers 3 was a good game but it seemed a bit hard to me.

I prefer playing my copy of SMB3 on an FC Super Loader that I have.

I prefer the first and the third. The third one you get to change into all those kool outfits and stuff. Ive always loved the Mario series, though. The original NES version will always be #1 to me.

I've played and enjoyed them all. But my favorite oldschool Mario game would have to be "Super Mario Bros. 3". My second favorite was SMB1. SMB2 was good, but lacked the magic that the other games contained. In fact, it was actually a remake of a Famicom Disk System game titled, "Doki Doki Panic!", which had nothing to do with Mario, except for some changed music and power-ups.

I personally like Super Mario All-Stars for the SNES because it has all three games with remastered graphics. Super Mario Bros. on SMAS is a beautiful 16-bit wonder and it controls better than ever.
