I watched It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown something about watching it on TV with commercials at Halloweeen time.

The second special was You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown (1972)

With the school election looming, Linus is talked into running for school president. With Lucy and Charlie Brown as his campaign manager and Snoopy and Woodstock assisting, he stands a decent chance of victory. Soon however, he makes unrealistic promises and learns the hard way that preaching about the Great Pumpkin can not be considered a sound campaign strategy.
It's OK, next time I'll make you listen. I wish that it were in the power of all children to say that to their parents and to know that indeed they would be heard as we were in those wonderful days on Waltons Mountain.Narrator The Waltons (From the Runawa

Charlie Brown is wonderful. I love both movies.

Did anyone watch the more recent series? I'm guessing it was made in the last decade but the voices sounded just like the originals. How'd they do that?

Ah.. thank you. I figured that was the second special since it was the one that aired last year. Plus it was the same special that was included as a DVD extra on the "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" original DVD release. I liked that special, it was pretty good.

Another reason why I think ABC airs "You're not Elected, Charlie Brown" along with The Great Pumpkin special (and why it's included on the original DVD release) is because of how Linus mentions the great pumpkin during the election.

I never really got into Charlie Brown but I do watch the Great Pumpkin episode every year, it's pretty cute. Just watched it two days ago. I rented it though. I wish I would have caught it on t.v. instead.

The special edition DVD of "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" features a different TV special that I've seen a few times before: "It's Magic, Charlie Brown".

I pretty much boycott ABC's airings of the Peanut specials. It just feels wrong that this channel is now airing them; CBS was where I grew up on these specials for at leas 15 or so years (Garfield and Bugs Bunny too for that matter), and they aired on CBS since the 60's. Suddenly having them stolen away to another network feels like an insult.

Don't get me wrong though, I still watch the special: I have the original Paramount DVD (though I'm thinking of getting the WB one just because it has It's Magic), as well as a taped copy off of CBS from '89.

I like the You're Elected Charlie Brown! thing. I only watched up to the Joe Cool segment, though. As a kid, I loved Joe Cool because he had such cool music. I also liked that special because it was Linus oriented, and Linus was always been my favorite character.

That aside, it's nice that ABC showed the full version of The Great Pumpkin. Nothing was dropped or cut out. Just like every year, my mother, my grandmother, and I watched it. We always watch the Christmas one together too. It's like a tradition for us.

I still liked when Charlie Brown specials were shown on CBS with that CBS Logo they used to use before the specials.
