some say it's the best sonic ever. It's not my taste really. Again with early cd technology the music quality is far superior to the graphics. I don't get why they didn't have smoother graphics with all that storage capacity. Also the game itself is just....uhh....weird

So what do you think about this game? (for those people who've even played it)

It was a pretty good game--I always enjoyed the animated intro for the game, and the opening theme was all kinds of catchy. Concept-wise, it was a little different than usual Sonic fare. Obtaining the Time Stones was a pain in the ass though...I don't think I ever got 'em all...

Yeah, I wouldn't call Sonic the Hedgehog CD the best 2D Sonic game, but it is pretty good. One drawback is that it had a lame final boss. You'd think that they'd take the CD effect to the extreme and make the boss colossal or something. Ehh, at least it's music is nice. People think the Japanese version had better music, but they're wrong: It's a tie.

I know the American version had better music because of Sonic Boom alone.

    Guile: Sonic Boom!

is a good song. I like it a lot better than the one that gets remixed in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on Game Gear.

True that, Scott--anyone who says they don't sing along to Sonic Boom are just too ashamed or are fuckin' l i a r s!

The music was good and the intro was cool but that was it!

The Genesis versions were way better!

It was an okay game...my friend and I still joke about "making good futures" after having played it. I much prefer Sonic R.

Me and my brother used to have this game but I never played it. My brother used to play it all the time until it broke and he said it was a good game.

The race against Metal Sonic was my favourite part of the game.
I could never get through all the levels fast enough to get the visual mode, but my brother managed to.

yeah it really doesn't make use of the cd capability to have smooth graphics. The graphics are almost a step backwards.

I love Sonic CD, the music is awesome. Unfortunately, since I've never had a Genesis or a Sega CD, I had the PC version. After the PC version stopped working when I got new computers, I got Sonic Gems Collection. Someday, I want to get the Sega CD version along with a Genesis and a Sega CD.
I want to be a dentist.

wtf. genesis is one of the best retro systems out there. I can understand not having a sega cd because they're rare. (and not many great games on that system). But there's no excuse not to have a genesis!

I had a Sega Genesis until like 2007.

But my Brother must get rid of everything that is not made in the 2000's.
