I remember watching Voltron but what I'd really consider my introduction to anime was Fist of the Star. I was flabbergasted and amazed at what I was beholding. I didn't even know animation existed for adults.

I discovered anime late in life. My first one was Dragon Ball Z. Than I watched some space anime about grappler ships but don't remember the name. afterwards:
    Trigun
    Naruto
    Bleach
    Chrome Shelled Regios
    Full Metal Alchemist
    Flames of recca
and many more, all ninja, samurai and fighting animes.

UFO Robo Gurendaizā was my first, but I only knew it as "Goldorak", and it was in French, so I never understood a damn word, this was in the late '70s -- or early '80s -- it was on channel 2 in Quebec on antenna.

Would you believe, I've still never seen it in English or original Japanese.

I should really try and track it down!

A really good site, if you don't already know about it is:

Like a lot of people, it was Pokemon, but also a lesser known anime called Flint the Time Detective. I doubt anyone remembers it other than me and maybe a few others.
These aren't my rules. Come to think of it, I don't have any rules.

Pokemon, back when it was still airing on Kids' WB. Good times.
Yeah, it's Yuuki. Got a problem with that?

Does Transformers the headmasters count? Because I remember watching that on tv when I was little. My first video was My Neighbour Totoro it took me a long time to find it again and no other video stores in our town had it and they didn’t know what I was talking about. On DVD it would have to be either Grave of the Fireflies or Akira I watched both movies when I was about 16 years old but I found Akira to be kind of creepy to be honest.
