Like the topic says... What things when you were a kid did you beleive was real? I'll start with a few things,..then everyone add what they used to think was real when you were a kid. and plase give some detail about it just in case some people do not understand.

I used to beleive that ALF was real. Alien productions,..or whoever did Alf still treat alf like he is real.. I'd see him on other shows and such as alf so I thought he as real.. Also used to think the tv was based on a real story.......always wish he crashed in my house instead...

I used to think Water towers with the blinking lights on them where UFO's hidden.

I used to think my third grade teacher was a witch lol

I'll post more when i tihnk of them..

My mother always rags on me for peeking my head down a manhole searching for wandering turtles as a child...don't tell me you've never felt the impulse to at least look...

I took common sayings literally,..."paint the town, get Pampered, Hit the lights"-I asked alot of questions on those. I thought ghosts were real,..& statues came to life, and toys had feelings...LOL!!!

I used to think a divorce was like a wedding. Everybody goes to Church dressed up fancy The Wife & Husband wear a white dress and a black tux and stand at the front while the preist does things like having them take off thier rings and destroy them and take back thier vows with another vow. He then says "You may both turn around and walk away from each other and by the power vested in me I now pronouce you separate." Then a wedding-like reception follows with 2 separate sides. Now I know the person who wants divorced signs some legal paperwork to terminate thier marrige papers and they each take half of what they got.

I used to think that when the TV was turned off, all the onscreen action of what was happening on the screen would freeze in time.

I used to think a thunderstorm erased the time on a digital clock because often times after a thunderstorm in the middle of the night I'd wake up, come down to the family room and see the display on the VCR say "--:--".

When I experienced my first power outage I was in Gym class at school 10 years ago in First Grade. The lights went out in the gym and that was that. I thought it was because someone turned off the school's lights until the next day. The techer talked about power outages and what caused them. Then I finnally understood the concept of Power Outages.

I used to think school was a place to do anything. After being suspended on the First day of Kindrgarten and being reduced to half-a-day the first semester I finally understood that you could play but you had to learn.

I have lived by an airport all my life and I thought the Red, White Green, Orange & Blue lights on either side of the runway were Christmas Lights that the airport people were too lazy to take down.

I used to think that Carl on "Family Matters" was Urkel. I also thought that the show's name was "Urkel" because that's what my family called it. We also watched "Married With Children" but i though the Show's name was "Love & Marrige". That's what my dad called it bacuse of the theme song.

I used to think Cops was named "Bad Boys". Again, because of the theme song.

I used to think the message on a can of pop that said "For best taste, drink by date on bottom of can." meant that you had to poke a hole in the bottom of the can where said date was and drink it from there. Thus, I thought that everybody I knew drank it wrong because they drank from the top. Now I know it means "For best taste, drink before this date occurs."

If you smashed the screen out of the tv you could go through it to the cartoon and visit.

    Women puked babies up.

and lastly that growing up would take forever god has the time went quickly.

I used to think that Lionel Richie was actually dancing on the ceiling for that video of his, Dancing on the Ceiling. I actually wondered why I couldn't do it.

When I was little I used to hang upside down off the couch and stick my feet in the air and pretend to walk on the ceiling. I was determined to do it and always thought there had to be a way I wasn't told about.

I thought IT was real so I was always afraid of the storm drains in my neighborhood.

One time I found a turtle out in the street so I took him home with me, but my mom made me keep him in a box outside. He ran away and came back 3 times before he was gone for good. I always imagined he was out fighting crime or getting pizza because my mom wouldn't let me feed him pizza.

I used to think I could fly, I spent a lot of my childhood jumping off of things and flapping my arms.

I thought my toys came to life and played with each other when I wasn't in my room, and that the pictures in my books would talk to each other and jump around the pages when they were closed.

I was afraid to play Duck Hunt at first because I thought I would kill real ducks.

My dad laughed at me when I was 9 years old because I thought the Lost In Space robot was real. The stuntman inside was a talented guy named Bob May.

At the B9RobotClub, members take turns inside a robot "suit" replica.

I searched for Bigfoot for about 2 months, fell into hole

Zombies for sure! There was a small cemetery near my house and every time I went by it i held my breath. I did that for years.

I also believed Pennywise (the clown from IT) was real. I stayed away from storm drains, and shower drains, and what have you.

    Wrestling.
My teddy bear would come alive if I needed him to beat up burglars.
All the basic stuff (Easter Bunny, Santa, Tooth Fairy).
I thought that the posters on my walls could see me.
    Oh...and the boogie man.

As sad as it is, I used to think that Max Headroom was real.

Boy do I feel stupid when I think back on it. I figured he had a talk show, and the didn't give talk shows to unreal things (until Space Ghost anyway.)

Then that guy did the airwave piracy thing in Chicago, and since I live 20 minutes away I saw it and it scared the hell out of me and helped fuel the fire that he was real.

But I did love the TV show. Have it on DVD-R as a matter of fact.
