    Where were you in 1985?

In 1985, I was four years old, and I've spent only my second year living at the house I still live at to this day. My older brother had just completed kindergarten.

1985 in music was all about digital synthesizers replacing electric pianos, and drum machines replacing human beings on drums.

I was 5 and it was the year I moved with my parents from an apartment building in Toronto's Jane-Finch area to a house in the Willowdale area (we moved days before my 6th birthday).

In 1985 I was living with my dad (my mom passed away in January 1984). I unsuccessfully attempted to take a drafting and design coarse at the local community college, starting with winter semester and continuing with tech skills for fall semester (failed and withdrew after fall semester). I got my first job in July. I turned 21 on September 14th. I bought my first CD player, which was the first Sony CD Walkman (later became known as "Discman").

I was 9 years old doing normal 80s kid stuff. That was the year my dad had open heart surgery by DR Debakey from Houston, the one that died last week. He was the one who invented the heart bypass procedure. My dad is still alive today thanks to him.

My dad didn't know if he was going to live or not so just my dad and I flew to NY to see his family two months after the surgery. It was the first time for me going there and meeting most of his side of the family. I had allot of fun and was spoiled rotten by all of them. It was a pretty eventful year.

I was in first and 2nd grade, visiting Korea in the summer, and watching movies like The Goonies and Back to the Future, playing with my transformers and GI joes, and getting Omega Supreme for christmas.

That christmas my family also became among the lucky few that year to get an NES (Yes, with the robot, and pack in games consisting of Gyromite and Duck hunt).
