There is only one company that could ever make me buy something I already own just because its a different color and thats Nintendo.
In the mid 90's color finally came to Game Boy, just not in the way we had hoped. The Game Boy was re-released with the system being in several different colors. There was red, green, yellow, black, and clear. I remember being pissed that there was no blue, my favorite color (although they would release a blue Game Boy pocket).
The color Game Boy I chose was clear, or "plain" I believe they called it. All the colors I think had names like black was midnight and Green was relish, something like that, feel free to correct me on that. There was just something about seeing the insides of my Game Boy that was so cool. I remember playing Kirby's Dreamland 2 on that Game Boy almost every days for weeks. The Game Boys came in this clear case that you could store your Game Boy in along with a few games. For some reason I thought that was really cool.
In my arrogance though when trading in stuff at stores like EB and Funco Land became common, my clear Game Boy was one of first things to go. Just because at this time I had a Game Boy color and I needed something that would be worth trading in.
I had also tried to trade in my original Game Boy but no one would take it because it had decals I put on it from Nintendo Power. Year later I was glad no one took it, how could I ever trade in my original Game Boy whats wrong with me!?! Anyway I eventually got a clear Game Boy off eBay, and the first game I played on it was Kirby's Dream land 2.
So what color of Game Boy did you have?
