There is only one company that could ever make me buy something I already own just because its a different color and thats Nintendo.

In the mid 90's color finally came to Game Boy, just not in the way we had hoped. The Game Boy was re-released with the system being in several different colors. There was red, green, yellow, black, and clear. I remember being pissed that there was no blue, my favorite color (although they would release a blue Game Boy pocket).

The color Game Boy I chose was clear, or "plain" I believe they called it. All the colors I think had names like black was midnight and Green was relish, something like that, feel free to correct me on that. There was just something about seeing the insides of my Game Boy that was so cool. I remember playing Kirby's Dreamland 2 on that Game Boy almost every days for weeks. The Game Boys came in this clear case that you could store your Game Boy in along with a few games. For some reason I thought that was really cool.

In my arrogance though when trading in stuff at stores like EB and Funco Land became common, my clear Game Boy was one of first things to go. Just because at this time I had a Game Boy color and I needed something that would be worth trading in.

I had also tried to trade in my original Game Boy but no one would take it because it had decals I put on it from Nintendo Power. Year later I was glad no one took it, how could I ever trade in my original Game Boy whats wrong with me!?! Anyway I eventually got a clear Game Boy off eBay, and the first game I played on it was Kirby's Dream land 2.

So what color of Game Boy did you have?

I had a gray original one, then when that broke, a green see-through original, then a black Game Boy Pocket, purple see-through Color, purple see-through Advance, blue SP (which I sold for a classic NES SP), gray DS, anniversary Famicom Game Boy Micro, and then a polar white DS Lite. Also quite some time ago, I got two more original gray Game Boys for fifty cents (25 cents each!).

i didn't have a game boy color but i did have the original game boy until my brother took it back from me, then i had a silver game boy pocket so i never really got into the whole 'different color' thing. funny thing about that though, i also had the original GBA and i wanted to trade it in for the clamshell GBA so i brought in my original GBA and the gameboy pocket w/ a few games to a local video game store. the 2 guys at the register both flipped when they saw the 'platinum' game boy pocket especially since it was in such great condition and said it's like super rare or something because of the condition and the color...but when they entered everything into the computer to calculate the trade-in value they said the gameboy pocket only had a trade-in value of $0.01. they told me i'd be better off hanging onto it and that it would be worth a lot of money later on.

I use to have a clear purple Game Boy Color. It was my first Game Boy. The first hand-held console I got was the Game Gear. I chose it over the original Game Boy because it had color.

1 silver black and white version and a pink color one.
Recipe for nostalgia: Mix 80's and 90's culture. Stir in some good memories. Add a dash of reflection. Mixture should now taste bittersweet. Shake well and enjoy!

    Game Boy: Basic grey
    Game Boy Pocket: Silver
Game Boy Color:Green x2, Teal, Yellow x2, Red, Clear Purple.
    Game Boy Advance: Purple

During The Game Boy Color years my game boys colors were either stolen, broken, or lost so for apology the people who did such payed me back with various colors of Game Boy Color.
    Reminiscing hurts my brain.

I have the original game boy (a.k.a. Game Boy Brick because of the size) in classic gray, a solid purple Game Boy Color, and a original Blue DS
