Many people tend to object when songs from their past are covered in the present. They feel that these versions aren't as well-done as the originals, that they ruin the lyrics and melody, things like that.

So, with that in mind, what songs do you think would work well with other artists?

Here's an example: Natalie Cole recorded a song in 1987 called "The Urge To Merge". As I listened to it, I couldn't help but think that Rihanna might be able to do a good cover of it. I can even imagine possible video concepts for the song.

How about all of you...What covers would YOU like to hear?

Richard Cheese's covers are great, I'd love to hear him do Crowbar's Existence is Punishment.

I'd like to hear that too. I also want to hear someone x-treme like Marilyn Manson sing "The Rainbow Connection." This may have already happened and I'm just behind the times.

Rihanna? You have to be kidding. The only Rihanna cover I'd like to see is a front page article describing her ironic death by lightning, with an umbrella as the conductor.

Now, now, don't hold back. Tell us how you really feel.

Is this a hatred of Rihanna, or are you using her as a representative of today's musical scene?

Both, neither, the former, the latter. It doesn't matter all that much.

There are far more covers then you think that are hits on the radio from 20 to 40 years ago. That does not count rappers sampling from a song 25 years ago to help their song to become a hit.
