Paramount pictures has aquired the film rights to Frank Herbert's classic sci-fi novel "Dune" as they are preparing to make a new cinematic Sci-fi franchise from each book.

Sort of reminds me of "The Lord of the Rings". The movies (directed by Peter Jackson) were very accurate and faithful to the books. Let's hope they'll be able to do the same with the "Dune" movies.

Well i dunno who would fit the bill to play Paul Artedis, but who would be good to play the part?

This could be the ultimate Sci-fi franchise of the new millenium.

They've made a movie and a mini series on Sci Fi I believe. Both were good in their own ways, I wonder what they'll do with the new one.

Hopefully they keep to the book story.

I liked the Dune movies that Sci-Fi made, but I never read the books, so I don't know how faithful it was. And I've only seen the original as a little kid.

As far as the Lord of the Rings, I've only read 2 Tolkein books, one was The Hobbit, and one was The Fellowship of The Ring. As far as I'm concerned the guy can't write for shit. Don't get me wrong, the story and characters are good, but the guy writes horribly. I don't have a boner for Peter Jackson or anything, but he made those movies the success that they were, he was working with shitty material.
