I was 8 going on 9- and if I wasn't listening to Debbie Gibson and New Kids on the Block, or watching Special Delivery, or playing Ninja Turtles... then I probably had strep throat, or maybe I even had it when I WAS playing those things, or watching those things. Playing Nintendo too- with or without strep.

I turned 3 years old that year.

I was addicted to Ducktales at the time. I also mainly watched Garfield, Charlie Brown and Snoopy, Bugs Bunny, regular Disney shorts, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Dennis the Menace, Woody Woodpecker, some Disney shorts, Star Trek the Next Generation, and the new Smothers Brothers show. I also caught Garfield's 9 Lives and the Girl in the Red Truck, Charlie Brown when they first aired.

I was terribly afraid of clowns (thank you Pee-Wee and Brave Little Toaster) so much that I wouldn't go near one that was hired to entertain at my 3rd birthday party.

Speaking of which, I got Lady and the Tramp on video for my birthday.

I saw my first two movies at the theater (Bambi and Oliver & Company).

I went to Disneyland for the first time. I still have a video of the State Fair parade. I put up a video of the Oliver & Company preshow float on youtube.

I taped a bunch of my favorite Christmas Specials off NBC and CBS that year including a Charlie Brown Christmas, Tis the Season to Be Smurfy, a rare Disneyland Christmas Special, Mickey's Christmas Carol, a Chipmunk Christmas, Garfield's Christmas, a Claymation Christmas, etc.. These were on two tapes, and they both still play in perfect condition 20 years later.

I learned who Superman was via the Paramount shorts being played on the Disney Channel. I still remember watching the Superman 50th Anniversary special that Dana Carvey hosted, plus I also saw Superman II. Back then the film scared me, but now I just think it's incredibly stupid (actually, conflicting memories indicate that I could have seen the movie in '89.)

In the movie "The Wizard", Jimmy and Corey (Fred Savage), they went on this cross country trip to California, they showed part of Utah. There are these little towns that are dinosaur crazy, and that movie came out about that time, so it reminds me of it. Great driving trip, great scenary. So, thatwas good.

Otherwise, I was mostly into baseball cards, Nintendo. Garbage Pail Kids were 86/87. But I still had them in 88. Legos!! Definitely. MASK. GI Joe! Although that was the end of the GI Joe, by 89 I lost interest.

-88 tv wise, I was probably watching GI Joe in the morning, Inspector Gadget?, Press Your Luck in the afternoon. On saturdays, Little Rascals at 8 am (funny, I use to be able to wake up early on saturdays). At 12 was wwf. I had this little 16 inch tv with rabbit ears then, and the wwf was on a channel that didnt come in well. It wasnt crystal clear.

Pretty good memories all around. Lived in Los Angeles. School was fun then. What else was popular then?

This whole segment pretty much sums up my life at that point. I was entering 5th grade in '88.

Going to preschool the first part of the year, actually started to somewhat get along with people for once.

Had an accident that landed me in the hospital that summer for 6 weeks, not too fun at all.

Then started kindergarten. I think most of my time was spent hanging with my neighbor friends and driving various wheeled toys around the driveway.

I was a junior in high school, rocking a kick ass mullet, drinking bud light and listening to Bon Jovi, Poison, and Guns and Roses.

I was born in '89 too, I was just wondering if your born in '89 would that make you a '90s baby or an '80s baby?

    80's baby...90's kid.

    Yeah, that makes more sense.
