I have a secret, I love New Age music. That is something I don't go around telling people, not that I care but I dont want people to see me rocking out to Enya (not that you can )

During the summer of 1997 I was 14 and was basically preparing myself for when my family and I moved in the Fall. So that summer was kind of surreal, enjoying the last few months of the only place I knew as home. I spent a lot of summer nights staying up late watching cable.

All summer long I kept seeing one of those "not sold in stores commercials" for a CD called Pure Moods, Pure Moods, a compilation CD with some of the best New Age music. I mean I must of saw the commercial at least 12 times a night on several different stations, I could not escape it. The commercial was hypnotic to say the least, the strange melodies and soothing sounds captivated me. It tapped into my mind like no other music has....or maybe it was the lack of sleep, I dont know.

My CD collection was music like Weezer and Green Day and here I am dying for a CD of music that makes me want to ride a Whale. Yet since it was only available to order over the phone and I was not about to ask my parents to order CD called Pure Moods I was pretty much boned.

Then towards the end of summer I was at Best Buy, I walked down a random CD aisle and out of the corner of my eye there it was, the Pure Moods CD, that damn CD that had been haunting me all Summer. Without a second thought I bought it, with much embarrassment but I did not care I finally had it. I listened to is constantly at night, laying in my bed with head phones on. I found it incredibly relaxing and would often fall asleep to the music.

I still have the CD and listen to it occasionally. A couple of months after we moved I was terribly home sick, but something that helped bring back good memories of my old house was laying in my bed like I used to listening to my Pure Moods CD, dreaming of all the good times I had in my old house.

.....ummm So anyway does anyone remember the commercial for the Pure Moods CD, and better yet do you have the CD?

I don't have the CD but I do remember the commercial. Now that I think about it, I wonder if they ever created a "Pure BAD Moods" CD.

I also remember a commercial for Freedom Rock, where it was music from the late 60's and early 70's. The memorable moment from that was two hippies sitting outside of a VW bus. The conversation followed:

"Hey Man, is that 'Freedom Rock'?"

    - - - "Yeah man!"

    "Well, turrrrn it uuuuup maaann!"

I also remember a commercial for tapes and CDs of Zamfir - MASTER of the pan flute.

I remember wanting that CD and that other CD they advertised for that I believe was made by the same people, the one that had the Native American chants on it (I forgot exactly what it was called) purly for the zen-like quality of the music.

I love Pure Moods; I have Volumes 1 and 2. I don't remember much about the commercial, except that it opened with a snippet of Enigma's "Return to Innocence" and the voiceover guy saying, "Or take a trip into the unknown with the X-Files theme."

I later discovered that some of the images in the ad are from the video for "Return to Innocence" -- for example, in the beginning when the waves crash over the rocks.

I also enjoy New Age music; it calms me down when I'm stressed out or can't sleep.

Yes, I remember this commercial! I was in 6th grade when it first came out and people would make fun of it as long as it ran. It was out for a while, a few years at least.

The sequence of songs they played would get stuck in my head though. I think I would have liked the CD if I owned it. Pure Moods is one of the classic "buy on TV" CD compilations of the 90's.

I never owned it, but my brother did, as well as one or two of the sequels. I'll never forget the day he confessed he liked a Yanni song that was on one of them. It was like finding out Superman has a crack habit.

I have volume 2 of Pure Moods but I did not get into as much as I did with the original Pure Moods. I wish I could find that commercial. I searched Youtube but no luck.

    I'm in the same boat.
I remember that cd first coming out and whenever i saw the commercial, I always asked whoever was around to buy it for me. Unfortunately, that never happened, but a few years ago I remembered the name of it and started looking for the commercial.
I have searched high and low ever since something triggered my thoughts about the cd, but I have had no luck finding any sort of commercials for it. I hope someone finds a commercial for it soon because this is killin me haha.

I have the I and II. The part of the commercial I hated was when they play a sample of Tubular Bells. When I was dating my future wife I lent her the CD. She was playing it at work and and freaked when Tubular Bells came on. In case you don't know Tubular Bells is the theme music from the Exorcist. Definitely not relaxing music!

I hear ya Michael. What would be an almost perfect cd is ruined by that fucking Excorists theme. Who the fuck is going to lay there and in and relax to that song, except ya know myabe the devil. The X-Files themes doesnt really fit the play list either but its not as bad as the Excorcist theme.

Monks chanting to techno music, right?
I think those Jnco kids in high school used to spin glowsticks around when they listened to this.

The Omen has a pretty soothing theme song that even a small babe could fall asleep to.

I have this commercial on my old computer. I encoded it a couple years back and posted it for someone who made a request for it on this very forum. I'll have to look through my archives and see if I can find it.

Oh geez, Pure Moods....that commercial played constantly, I remember always having that yodel-y song stuck in my head. But I know tons of closeted Enya/Pure Moods fans, so there must be a market.

I remember the Pure Moods commercial. I always liked the music they played for it. I jus twish I knew the names of the songs they had in the commericals. I did learn of Crockett's Theme by Jan Hammer, so that was a plus for me. My dad had the Miami Vice soundtrack, so I just ripped the song off of that.

I like New Age music too, sucks I'm bad with song titles.

Please do. Maybe the song I'm currently thinking of is in that version of the commercial and maybe I can look up the song. ^^

The song seemed to have Native American chants in it.
