There's tons of games that I think were overlooked:

    Viewtiful Joe
    Okami
    Mischief Makers
    Shantae
    Guardian Heroes
    Burning Rangers
    Silhouette Mirage
    Magic Knight Rayearth
    Shining Force III
    Panzer Dragoon series
    Gunstar Super Heroes
    Zack & Wiki
    Saturn Bomberman
    StarTropics
    Mighty Final Fight
    Air "Zonk"
    Gate of Thunder
    Monster Lair
    Elemental Gearbolt

This is what I can think of right now, and I'll add more if I can think of more.

Here's a list of overlooked NES games:

    The Guardian Legend
    Kickmaster
    Cabal
    Vice: Project Doom
    Faxanadu
    Crystalis
    Startropics
    Shatterhand
    Shadow of the Ninja
    Metal Storm
    Journey to Silius
    Street Fighter 2010
    Willow
    Kabuki - Quantum Fighter

That's what I can get off the top of my head. I'll think of some more later.
The past is like one big abandoned desert, vast and empty. But sift through it enough, you'll find the greatest treasures forgotten by time. That's retrogaming!

    Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii

I agree. There wasn't enough hype surrounding it. I hardly even heard it mentioned on here.

    Shadow Hearts 1 and 2
    Omega Boost
    Shadow of Memories

    my contribution:

seiken densetu 3 (unreleased japanese sequal to secret of mana)
it got pretty big and completely fanslated.

now to comment on things other people posted.

"Shinobi Kidd ( Alex Kidd in Shinobi World)
    (Mario lol)"

I tried alex kidd on genesis and after discovering it's a turd of a game I assumed all other alex kidd games are turds too. So I'll have to give this one a try

    "Gunstar Super Heroes"

both me and my roommate picked this game up before moving in together. But yeah I never heard about it until I bought a gba and did online research of best gba titles.

"I loved Mischief Makers!!! Did you ever play the psx gunstar?"

unless you're talking about the ps2 version of the sega genesis gunstar heroes.....even google search doesn't know what you're talking about.

"Some RPG games that were overlooked...
    "Earthbound" (SNES)"

I dunno, I heard a lot about this game before getting into it myself. Maybe it was just a cult thing or something.

""EVO: The Search for Eden" (SNES)"

Yes I agree with you here, I played the crap out of this game and totally loved it.

    ""Chrono Cross" (PSX)"

    .....because IT SUCKS

    ""The Secret of Mana" (SNES)"

Uhh......there was lots of hype about this game in nintendo power when it was new. But I guess they didn't advertise it much beyond that.

Earthbound, when it was new, before it suddenly became popular on the internet out of nowhere. God I hate these new fans.

Some games I'd say still truly were are Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest (awesome RPG, even if it's easy), Dragon Warrior series in America, and Gimmick!.

I rented mystic quest when it was new and loved it. Yeah you're right nobody cared about it. I didn't even realize gimmick was released here. Great game, but man is it ever hard!
