I also remember playing a LOT of video games during '94. Donkey Kong Country, Super Metroid, Sonic and Knuckles and so many others.

Yeah, 1994 was alright. I started the 4th grade that year though I didn't like my teacher. Also, I had my bedroom re-done and I got to design it and get all new furniture. I still had my "toddler" set up, pink carpet and this panda wallpaper with light blue walls. And my furniture was all hand-me-downs.

PLUS, that is the year The Lion King came out and I was pretty much obsessed with it. It was a highlight of my childhood. And Animaniacs was on TV, another thing I was obsessed about.

    1994 highlights for me, I was 11

    - Kurt Cobain died, sad day indeed for me, I had just got into Nirvana during the later half of the previous year, meaning I'll never get to see them live.

    - Playing Yoshi's Cookie, Mario Paint, and the release of Illusion of Gaia on the Super Nintendo. Some of my favorites for that system.

    - Walking the trails around my sister's college home with the local neighborhood kids. Those were some of the best times I've ever had.

    - I started playing guitar that December.

1994 was one of the worst years of my life. I started middle school, which is hell on earth. Also, my parents were fighting all the time and ended up getting divorced. The Lion King was probably the only good thing about that year.

I was in grade six and had a great year. I was doing well in school and spending a lot of time with a girl two years older than me. I'd have WKRP and Animaniacs to look forward to every day after school. Roger Daltrey from the Who did an over 20 page long interview with Goldmine magazine, I took that issue with me everywhere, I must have read it over 40 times. I lost track of it after a while but a few years back I found another copy used. Then there was a great Christmas to cap off the year. I bought the 4 cd Who's boxed set on boxing day that year. If I could go back and live that year again, I defenitley would.

Ugh, freshman year in high school. The only thing good about it was that it was the same year I discovered college radio.

Umm... Christmas? And I played with a Lion-O figure in a little pink dollhouse?

But you remember that from pictures not your own memory...

Did a picture tell me that my grandma accidentally called Lion-O "Ronald McDonald"?

Or that I was vaugely trying to act out some kiddie video I'd just been watching with the bird-man action figure?
