One thing I just can't get is a trend or fad that has been around for nearly 2 decades now, which is kids and teenagers wearing their pants, often several sizes too big, low around their hips with their underwear showing. Does anyone have any idea what started that trend, and why it has been around for so long? Most fads are short-lived, but this has been around for 15 to 20 years!

I think just the quality of life in general slowly evaporating and falling down on us is perfect to sum up "today".

This fad originated in prison culture. Prison inmates aren't allowed to have belts (lest they use them to hang themselves), so they often go around with their pants looking all droopy-like. And because modern hooligan culture idolizes all things to do with the incriminated, anyone who wants to be cool has to wear their pants around their knees as well.

Tattoos. Is it still cool to have a tattoo when so many people have them?

People who get tattoos should be mature enough to not give a fuck if it's cool or not.

That's why I have one. I don't care what other people think of it because deep down I know I paid for it and I love it. I also got it after a rough day at work which was kind of cathartic. I may get another one this summer but I haven't decided what I want yet.

I might get one of these:

It's a vegvisir, a protective rune that old Germanic vikings used to draw on their armor, helmets, or their own bodies in ashes, saliva, or blood for good luck and to ensure that they would never get lost. I guess you could say its a compass of sorts. Bjork has one tattooed on her arm and I like the design.

I dont get kids today with their baggy pants and their rock n' roll. You darn kids, GET OFF MY LAWN!

Seriously though, I dont get those shoes with the wheels called Heelys. It seems like you cant go places anymore without seeing kids rolling around on those shoes.

But then again, I'm sure adults didn't get it either when most of us were wearing the sneakers where the heels lit up when you walked.

As for the emo thing, I had to ask my 15 year old niece what the word 'emo' meant. Talk about feeling old.

Aeroplanes. I mean, how do they stay up there in the sky when they're so heavy? Kids today...

    Also, Crocs.
