80 movie remakes - i dont understand why we need sequels prequels and remakes of movies from 20 years ago of characters that no one has thought of for the last 10 years

I think the main reason for this is because film makers know what movies were the cash cows 20 years ago and realize they will appeal to a much wider demographic if they re-make said films. Think about it - when movies that were opular 20 years ago first came out, they were starting from square one as far as building up their fanbase. Now, with remakes (and few to no bloopers), film makers can appeal to the current generation as well as those people who were fans two decades ago.

I don't understand the point of those teeny tiny purses that pretty much fit snug against the armpit and can hold all of about ten cents. I also don't understand the trend of girls wearing mini skirts in the middle of winter.

Yeah, adults now who saw the movies as kids then will go to see the re-make and take their kids to see it. So it's double the profit.

Leashes are understandable...honestly, I wish more people would use them. Little kids have a tendency to run like a bat out of hell across a parking lot or into traffic if you take your eye off them for a second. And if you don't react in time, you're too fat or you don't notice the kid ran off, you'll be scraping Junior's dumb ass off the concrete. They really are an effective safety measure because you just can't watch kids every second - you need to look away every now and then. I know kid leashes are demonized because people think it means treating kids like animals (frankly, I've known animals that were better behaved than most kids ) and no one wants to degrade their pweshus widdle snookums - even if it means possibly saving the kid's life. Of course, it will be these too-good-for-safety parents who will be the first to sue if their kid gets plowed over.

I agree with the ADD/ADHD thing - there's no fucking way so many kids have autism (I think in the last 20 years, there's been an 850 percent increase in the number of child autism cases). Some people do genuinely have it, but there's a trend that has developed within the last decade in terms of parenting styles and autism medication. There's parents who can't be bothered to discipline their kids and who use the excuse of autism to justify their kid's awful behavior, and doctors who are willing to prescribe children as young as two years old Ritalin. It's a slap in the face to anyone who has genuine autism because it makes a mockery of the condition.

I don't want to get into how the complaining is the thread sounds EXACTLY like what my parents and grandparents used to say about my generation (followed by a "in my day..." with a ridiculously inaccurate diatribe)

I heard that "Soulja Boy" song, and it just sounds like every other modern rap song. Who the hell did he pay off to get so popular all of a sudden?

Another thing I don't get: CGI in every single movie that has even the smallest special effect in it. What happened to latex molds, animatronics, and stop-motion? I'll take that over CGI any day.

What I don't get in today's world is the whole "Emo" thing. What is the point of being so sad all the time over nothing?

I think that these new age Pre-Teen's 10-12 Years old and Young Teens Age 13-15 Years old just have a relatively new Fad going for them where they get this Idea that they think that it is cool to make everybody think that they are sad all the time, When in reality they are not really sad at all and that they have found that they get enjoyment out of making everyone else think that they are sad all the time.

I really don't get a lot of things today..
    MTV -- Where's the music?
BRATZ Dolls -- Chucky for children.
Most music.. it's like they don't even try anymore. Actually, some of it is starting to get better again. Just a little bit. I still prefer stuff from a decade ago now, though.
The world in general seems to be a little chaotic from how the history books described a decade or more ago nowadays. I mean I know the world seems to always be on edge, but now it's just like WWIII any minute now. Or maybe it's just because the media is just blasting it more than they used to and twisting the situation so much that they ought to be punished for immorality.. or stupidity, you can decide.
Oh, yea, the media -- seriously wtf? Way too much hype on Britney Spears and Angelina Jolie that I can really care less. I really worry about what we care most about in the world nowadays that we really give a shit about how many babies she's adopting or how drunk Lindsay Lohan was this week. Give me something relevent plz.
