Except for some probably educational game on a computer like a nil-graphic Commodore pet in kindergarten, I had virtually no computer game experience as a small child. My parents didn't believe in them. The first real experience I remember of video games was when I was 9 or 10, andmy godbrothers brought a hand-held Donkey Kong game on a visit. I tried to play it, but not being experienced, kept losing. I was desperate to win before the end of their visit, so I withdrew to my parents' room, and frantically continued, crying as I was playing. Later, at their house I think, I was introduced to Super Mario Bros. It was like entering another world. But as I had no Nintendo at home, I couldn't get any practice. I developed an obsession with Mario Bros. and looked forward to visiting other people's houses, just so I could play!

When I was 11, my parents got our first computer. I got a game too, but it was educational, "Math Blaster". For my 12th birthday, my mother reluctantly let me have a Bartman hand-held video game, but eventually confiscated it.

My first video game was at a local convenience store. It was Bubble Bobble.

Tiny Toon Adventures for Sega Genesis. I had many happy hours playing it, but I could NEVER get past this one level. Then, one day, my friend came over and SHE BEAT THE WHOLE GAME. I thought I had encountered the most skilled person ever to play videos games.

I was the one of few kids who caught on with the sega and not the snes. My first game for sega was eswat, and that's about it, for my classic first games

I think Pac Man was probably one of the first I played on Atari. There used to be a taco place my mom would take me to, and they had this awesome table with a Pac Man game in the middle and a joystick on each side, so you could play while you waited for your gut wrenching tacos. I thought that was the shit. I also remember playing some treehouse game on a Tandy.

I have a ton of Atari games and a couple NES games from before I was born that are my parents or my sisters, but the very first game I remember getting that was just mine was a Sesame Street game for NES that had a ferris wheel alphabet game as well as a game with Ernie in a bathtub.

Why didn't you just make this part of your "First Video Game System" thread over in the Video Games forum?
